What I did with leftover HST's...
2 Attachment(s)
Earlier today I posted on the Main board and asked for ideas of what to do with leftover HST's from another project. I had a bunch of 5" HST's leftover from making the first quilt.
Someone suggested a Carpenter's Star and the lightbulb went on in my head! :) The Carpenter's Star has been on my bucket list, so I decided to do a scrappy one with my "leftovers"! So, I threw this together this afternoon. The blocks aren't sewn together, yet...this is just them on my design wall. I think it's going to be a baby quilt, so will wait to add the border. When I find out it's for a girl, I'll do a pink border and if it is to be for a boy, I'll add a blue border. :) I know it's not real "cutesy" like most baby quilts, but do you think it's okay for a baby quilt? |
I think that will make a great baby quilt. Great idea for using those leftover HST.

Beautiful! I love it when I can create something with leftover pieces. :-)

Very clever of you! It will be fabulous.
Great idea and I love the colors!
I think it's perfect for a baby quilt! It will be used longer, something they won't "grow out of"
Clever idea to use left overs.
Very nice,great use of leftovers.....
I think it will be a great baby quilt. It will still be a great quilt for an older child as he/she grows older.

How creative! I think it would be a great baby quilt and one that will grow with them.
"I threw this together this afternoon" !!!!!!!!!! WOW good for you, that would take me about a month to 'throw'
together!!! It's beautiful! |
The parents will love this. This will be there as the baby grows. Wonderful use of scraps

A little bonus quilt, something off your bucket list, and a gift in waiting!! You get extra points for sure.

Baby quilts are no longer just cutsie and this would make a perfect one.
Great quilt. I love scrap quilts.
I love it! I have a drawer full of 2.5 blocks made from HST. I also have a nephew due in Feb. Think I will whip up one of these for him! Thanks for the inspiration!
You did a great job and cutsey gets outgrown real fast. This will become a favorite and drug all over the place!!
I love this as a baby quilt. I love any quilt for that matter. Thank you for sharing.
Very nice! Good way to use leftovers
great scrappy quilt and great for a baby (many young parents aren't really that into the pink/blue thing)
I love it! Please post again when you get it quilted.
Great quilt made off the hip from your leftover hst's! Nice pattern too.
I love the quilt...but I'd not rule out other colors for the border. At least not "baby pink or blue".
yes, it will make a great baby quilt! just put borders for the appropriate gender.
Great idea! It is so pretty, too.
Looking good. Be sure to send a picture when its finished.
That is adorable! It is big enough for children not just babies and it would be a cheery addition to the nursery!
I do not know how to do either of these things but I bet you could do prairie points to trim out the boy quilt and scallops and ruffles to feminize the quilt for a girl. Didn't take you long since the last post, either! |
You did agreat job with the leftover's,it looks very nice.
Very nice!
Great use of your triangles, turned into a lovely quilt. I really like your layout.
Beautiful; you inspire me
