What is more satisfying than finishing a quilt?

I started this about eight months ago, but Old Yeller is finally finished. On Saturday, I took my last stitch, held my breath as I gingerly placed her into the washer on the delicate cycle and a color catcher just in case. I crossed my fingers. When she came out of the dryer, she was positively hugable. It is hard to believe I won't have this quilt to work on in front of the TV.

Here she is on my bed--and with a shot of the corner with the binding.

I am already contemplating the next project. I can't wait to start.

I don't know how I got pictures without cats. They must have been eating. :-)

I LOVE it...how could I not...Yellow..my favorite color..!! Love the pattern too.

Prissnboot 09-17-2012 08:43 AM

A very happy color and a great job, well done! I just finished a UFO quilt top over the weekend, and find myself going "what do I do now" as I am in the unique (for me) position of not having a deadline to finish something by...don't know quite how to deal with that one!

crafty pat 09-17-2012 08:44 AM

How beautiful, your work is outstanding.

There aren't too many things better than creating things you love for those you love. Thanks for sharing old yeller with us.

tucsonquilter 09-17-2012 11:09 AM

Yellow is my favorite color so of course this is a beautiful quilt. There is always sadness and relief when I finish a quilt. And then of course excitement about the next project.

Diane007 09-17-2012 11:41 AM

nice and cheery

Floralfab 09-17-2012 01:08 PM

Old yeller in beautiful. So is your hand quilting!!

Jingle 09-17-2012 01:18 PM

Beautiful quilt, congrats on getting it done. I finish one and start another. While I am sewing the binding to the back by hand I start planning the next one. About all I do in my spare time and some of my home chore time too. I think I am may have a problem. I am working on my 108th quilt now. 82nd since I started machine quilting 10 years ago. Plus 16 comforters and 10 biscuit quilts.

jillnjo 09-17-2012 01:25 PM

She is a beauty!! Love everything about her!!

Lori S 09-17-2012 01:54 PM

Thanks Susan. I have found that so many people are not like us--they don't like yellow. I suspect they don't know what they are missing. To wake up in the morning to pure sunshine is as good as it gets.

Great work and finish thanks for sharing- love how the washing of it made it looked cuddly and loved.

Thanks Prissnboot. I know exactly what you mean. Last night I looked at the empty quilt hoop in the living room and felt just a little sad until I saw three of my four cats frolicking on my quilt on the bed...Congratulations on finishing your quilt top...I have retired from the world of deadlines myself. It is wonderful to feel so free, but it will be positively decadent when I start the next project.

Thanks Crafty Pat. I totally love making quilts. This is only my 8th in about 10 years. I can't wait to make more.

Thanks Quilter 65. My cats can certainly attest to the comfort factor. I wonder if anyone who isn't a quilter can really appreciate how good it feels to take that final stitch?

Thanks Mary. Like so many here, I just love collecting fabric. Deciding on which ones to use isn't always easy, but it is always fun.

Thanks Delta. There really isn't anything like a quilt. There just isn't anything about them that isn't wonderful. How did I live before I became a quilter?
