What is this pattern called?
 

I'd love to recreate this for my son, who's now 20, as a college graduation gift. :)

from the look of the stripe-y block under his knee, i'd say it is the 10-minute block, too

I agree also, 10 minute block.

I think it looks like the 10-minute block, too, because the center square has no seams. But if that pattern is too complicated for you, you could always sew four blocks together with a folded over square in one corner for the same look.

Although the 10-minute block is kind of a fun challenge...

I'm with the others. That quilt is very pretty.
