Love the focus pirate fabric! Your coordinating colours are perfect :thumbup:

I've been looking for something to get my daughter started, found a couple of designs that show of the focus fabric nicely - here are the EQ7 images.

The 'Peaceful Haven' is from "Let's Quilt - Easy Projects for First-Time Quilters" by Ann Kisro (our local library has this book). The blocks are 16.5" (the four strips are cut 2.5").

The 'Swing Patch' is from the June/July 'Quilt' magazine. The blocks are 9" x 13".

I think my dd is going to do the 'Peaceful Haven'.

Is it me or does that pirate look a lot like Captain Jack Sparrow aka: Johnny Depp?

You could also do one of the window quilts - you can fussy cut the scenes so each window focuses on a different thing going on in the material...


and I agree that the fabric designer totally took Jack Sparrow's character and put it on that fabric. When I saw it at the store, I had wondered what Disney thought of it lol.

WALK THE PLANK!! I think the wood grain stripe needs to be on the quilt....IMO.

Whatever you choose, ALL your fabrics are fabulous together. You could try lucky stars and use the pirate in the center square of each start and instead of having background fabric for the stars, just use your regular fabric you bought. Fabulous

There is a pattern that I've used with large scale fabrics that really works well. It's called "Just Can't Cut It."

You would use your Pirate Fabric plus five other fabrics. I think the largest print would be cut into 5.5" squares, but I'm not positive about the measurement. I know that some clever person can provide you a link with where to buy this pattern. I've seen it in 6 local stores over the years.

It's an easy pattern for a lap size quilt that really goes together quickly.

You could do a turning twenty, but use the pirate fabric for the large squares and the coordinating fabrics for the rest.

Have you looked on the fabric manufacturer's website? Many of them have free patterns for each line of fabric. It might spark your imagination!
