I made a sample quilt to test how hard a pattern that combines paper piecing and curved seams woud be to make. It will be a bit tedious to make 36 blocks (1/4 circle each), and the color scheme will be different, but I think the result will be worth the effort. Any ideas for a clever name for my sample?

Mixed emotions? I love the fabric you used too. Can't wait to see the "real thing". What technique of paper piecing did you use for the curves?

RatherB Quilting 05-12-2010 12:12 PM

Call it "eye candy" :)

raptureready 05-12-2010 12:18 PM

ooohhhh, I like the name Eye Candy.

ddeew 05-12-2010 12:20 PM

No, but the tight ziz-zag stitching around the green ring makes it pop out.

 "Illusional" or "Illusionistic"
Very pretty, love it

Just the purple & print triangle semi-circle section is paper pieced. Then I attached that, using regular piecing, to an inside curved print and an outside curved green section.

You are very creative. This quilt really is an eye catcher or eye candy.

BellaBoo 05-12-2010 03:19 PM

Worm Hole. LOL I like odd names for quilts.

How about "You CAN put a round circle in a square peg!"

LindaM 05-12-2010 07:04 PM

It's gorgeous! Swirling ribbons? I do like 'Eye Catching' very much!

Great colour choices! The yellow band really ties everything together and makes it pop.

Kaleidoscope

Gerbie 05-12-2010 07:17 PM

I think "It Looks Like Color Explosion" a beautiful piece of work, I love the framing you did around the circle.

mrs. fitz 05-12-2010 07:38 PM

As soon as I looked at it I thought of a lime lifesaver so I'm with those who like the name Eye Candy. It's a lovely quilt whatever you name it.

Reminds me of that song...Windmills of your Mind"...love your work, really beautifully put together.

I have only read the 1st page of this post....BUT when I saw your sample quilt... my first thought was...
"Wheel in Motion"
Just love the colors, can't wait to see the whole quilt!!!

BUT it's your quilt... you did the work... you name it. I am sure you will find the exact name for it, maybe even while doing the quilt!

Up4BigChal 05-13-2010 04:58 AM
