I would leave it just as she made it.
I think that I would leave them. It is pretty as it is! What a treasurer you have!

I would leave them. It makes the quilt special.
I would have to agree with most of the other posts .... leave it.
I would leave them. That is how she put them in an I dont think she would have changed them had she noticed it. But it her quilt an you will always love what she did. joyce j
I would leave it, everything is life is not perfect, just enjoy it as is.
What a gift that you have acquired this quilt and that you will be able to finish it as I am sure she wanted very much to do. It is a lovely quilt, I wouldn't change a thing!

I suggest leaving them alone. You will always remember that she made it that way. What a thrill it will be to have that one finished!
Leave them,
J J |
I think it is obvious that I must leave them the way they are. This was also my first impression. I just couldn't bring myself to change the way she had it. But, I wanted to know what eveybodyelse thought. Thanks so much for your input!!
Yes I would leave them as they are, it's her gift to you, I like the pattern and colors.
I would leave it the way it is. It's a lovely top.
That's the way she made it, that's the way it should be. Quilt it and enjoy it.
that makes me so mad! no matter how careful I am seams it always happens, it happens to my Mom too, as much trouble as it is we almost always take it apart and fix it, I'll bet your mother in law would like for you to fix it for her, it's not saying "your work wasn't good enough" it's saying " I care enough to go to the trouble for you"
I would leave them. It will be a good way to look back and remember Her. Maybe She meant for it to be that way.
I agree, keep the original work. And finish it - enjoy it and the memories

i personally would leave them maybe a reason she did them that way
I would leave it - it was meant too be!
It was her quilt, so I would finish it the way she made it - you will always treasure that quilt, not the fact that two adjoining blocks are the same color. I seriously doubt that anyone will notice.
Your first instincts were "spot on". I aged with you & the majority. Leave it as she made it & quilt it. It's very pretty & I'd like to see the finished project!!
I would leave them. Perhaps she wanted to thumb her nose at the "quilting police"!
I would leave them, it is a very nice quilt and it will look great once quilted!
If I had made it, I would probably take it apart and redo it. If someone special to me had made it, I would leave it as is. That way every time you see the "mistake" you will think of her.
Oh, for sure. Leave it. That is the charm of something hand made. It give character to the quilt and will always be a reminder of you MIL.
Oh the heck with it. Leave it alone and besides not all of the center four patches are identical either. Want to remake the whole thing? I think not. Only God makes perfect.
If your mother-in-law is still around, ask her what she'd prefer. If she's not, leave it as she created it. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely leave them. It will be so much more meaningful!
I would definitely leave them as she made it that way - whether intentionally or not. It's a perfect reminder that we all make mistakes and the quilts still come out beautiful because someone special has spent a lot of hours and energy to create something special for us. Call it unconditional love!
I agree with the majority. The quilt is lovely as it is. You and your children will treasure it as a wonderful reminder of
their grandmother. |
It looks to me like there are "almost duplicates" in every row, not perfect duplicates, but close enough to be considered duplicates, if you sort of squint at them. Apparently, your MIL was aware of that and had a reason for doing what she did, so I'd just leave them the way they are. It's charming as it is!
I would leave them!
That kind of thing bothers me, too, I like things spaced right. That's why I don't like scrappy quilts where you have to close your eyes and just take the next scrap you pick up. HOWEVER, scrappy quilts are like that, so if you leave it, it will be historically correct.
leave them!
I would leave them! :)
Beautiful quilt! |
