What should I do???
1 Attachment(s)
I was digging on my trunk and dug out some UFO's. One of them was a top that my MIL made before she could no longer see to quilt. There are 2 sets of blocks in the top that are matching blocks, sitting side by sie. Should I leave them the way they are or take them apart and exchange places with the duplicates?
Leave them. Perfect is not always the best. It is the way she made it.:o
Looks like she meant them to be that way. Are they only in center of quilt? If so, I think I would leave them like she intended. I like the pattern and colors.
I'd leave them, for sure! Every time you look at them you'll think of her!
personally, i'd leave them just as they are. it doesn't look bad to me, and it will be a wonderful memory of her.
Leave them... She made it that way, you'll be glad you left them that way.
I would leave it the way she made it - in honor of her. Think of the side by side blocks as you and her as "quilting sisters"
I agree, leave them as she put them. Her work will be a real treasure for years to come.
I would leave it the way she made it. It is a beautiful top.
Ask your MIL she still can talk and think can't she? That would be what I would do
I would leave it as is, finish it and if she is still living, present the finished quilt to her. Sandy 64
I would leave them alone too. That just adds to the "charm" of them.
this sure is pretty! id' leave it just like it is and quilt it. i have a quilt that was made by leslie's great grandmother, a diamond design, that i think needs sides on it. seems to me to be sooooo long and not very wide! probably for a twin bed but i want to add to it. ill start a thread when im done with my room and show you all so you can see what i mean. anyways, talk about side tracked! this is pretty just like it is!
That wouldn't bother me at all. I would leave them as-is and cherish the quilt.
Is it machine pieced or hand pieced? If it is machine pieced I would measure the 2 blocks you are thinking of moving. Are they exactly the same size? If they are exact and they are driving you crazy, then they should be fairly easy to pick out the stitching around the blocks and carefully pin and stitch them back in. If they aren't driving you crazy, I would leave them because it is pretty the way it is. If they are hand sewn, I would leave them the way they are.
I would leave them. I left mine! did some by mistake! but really, it was her quilt so just finish it and know it's how she would have done it if she could have.
Leave the blocks where they are, it is part of the quilts charm. It will bring her and her story to mind each time you look at the quilt.
Leave them, call it " Nobodys perfect". You won't see it unless you are really studying the pattern. Make sure you put her name on the back and the approximate date
I would leave it just the lovely way it is.
peace |
If you change it, it won't be the same one SHE made.
I also vote to leave them where they are.
Very pretty quilt and it will a great heirloom.
As of page three 100% for leaving as is, and I agree. Beautiful quilt!!!
I would definitely leave it! It is a treasure made and just needs your beautiful handquilting! Love Robin's comment "quilting sisters", very fitting for the duplicate blocks.
I would leave them. They look great. Pretty, pretty, quilt.
I think it would drive me nuts to leave them together. But that is just me.
Leave them! The value is in the history not in perfection.

Mom is the one in the middle of the far side. The one on the left side is her daughter. the other one is one of my quilting group.

I would leave them, they add something special!!!!!!!
I don't know what I was thinking when I posted this. I forgot to tell you that she died in March. I think I'll just leave it the way she made it. She obviously knew what she was doing. She did wonderful hand piecing and quilting. She would have been 93 years old in April.
Just leave them, don't disrupt their little home. It's a very nice quilt!!
It's a pretty top. But personally I would move them. If I took the time to finish the quilt in the end that would always bug me, but that's part of my personality and may not be yours.
Leave them there. It's part of the memory.
I would leave them as she had them , they are Beautiful..
If she can be asked, ask her. Otherwise, I would probably change it because I am compulsive that way. There is no need to do so, however.
