I'm visiting my parents in Ohio and made it just in time for the 2 worst snowstorms in 20 years. I had started sewing on this quilt top before I left Colorado, and brought it with me, in case I got bored. Well, the snowstorms kept us pretty much housebound and I got the top done, even though Mom's sewing machine is the least expensive sewing machine on the market and I couldn't sew a straight line to save my soul (agh!). Problem is, I still have another week here. I may have to find a fabric store....

Snow + Snow + More Snow = Snowballs Nice job, it looks good!
I take it you have found out how spoiled we have become with our fancy computerized machines. I used a friends machine this past weekend and it was so basic it didn't have a needle up/needle down button. Well when I would turn corners, I was forgetting to make sure my needle was down before turning my fabric. Oops....... Happy shopping!! |
Smart girl! I never go anywhere without something to work on. The in-laws house is the worst! I can hold up with my stitching and never get involved in those "deep" conversations. It's probably saved many a fuss! lol

That is really pretty! :) :)

Yes, clever girl! Amazing how quilting can keep you out of mischief. Well done, a really lovely quilt.
|
I am glad you got to do some sewing and I love your pineapple. It is one of my favorite quilt patterns!

Amazing how many quilters have been getting quilts made these last few weeks with all the snow.
My sewing machine shop was so busy this past week even with all the snow, they could barely keep up. Did you PP this quilt? I like the block you made and the quilt is great. |
That is beautiful. See, snow is good for something. Great job.
|
Beautiful!! Glad you were able to make great use of your time!!
|
It's very pretty.
|
Very nice!
|
It's beautiful. The pineapple pattern is on my 'I wanna try' list.

Oh, I really like it!

Gorgeous quilt - love the colors and fabric. That is a great pattern - scares me - never have tried it.
|
That is SO pretty! I'll bet you were sure glad you had brought something with you to work on ~ Who knew the weather could be so crazy!
|
very beautiful, i love it

How pretty! I just love the pineapple design to work with. It is so addicting. Are these your color choices? Very creative... almost romantic, dreamy like.
Your parents must really be nice to have you visit and not spend all your time with them. |
Very nice quilt. Love the colors and the pattern. Like Beachlady I guess I'm intimidated by that pattern. Those are usually the ones I like to tackle just to see if I can do it.
I'll have to try it. After seeing yours it does inspire me. I hope there are quilt stores open for you in that snow. Hopefully you can get there. Weird weather. We usually have snow here but none to really speak of all year. I'm thankful. |
Your quilt is gorgeous! Maybe you should consider hand quilting to give you something to do for another week! I love this pineapple block--it will go on my "Someday" list!

Pretty pineapple quilt. Maybe your next project should be an applique if your mom's machine makes you crazy!
|
Hi,
Have you tried to make the hexagons by hand (I got a set of the quilt patis) and made some, they are very addictive. As my friend taught me how to make them as she is making a big quilt all by hand. Are you still in Ohio? Did you buy out the fabric store? Karen |
I love the pineapple block! Yours is so darling! Love the colors and glad you were able to keep busy during all that snowtime!! :D :D
|
Gorgeous quilt! I guess something good came out of all this snow, your quilt!

beautiful quilt...even on an old machine. Ok...I'll bite...SNS technique? Could you explain what that is please? (Dummy here :( )
|
maybe if it snowed here I would get more done!!? not likely to snow here though unless climate change happens drastically...
|
Now that is a great way to sit out a snowstorm! Wonderful!!!
|
For not being able to sew a straight line, you accomplished quite a beautiful quilt.
|
Beautiful!
I've learned to at least take a knitting project even if it's just a day trip. Good to have something to do, just in case. Bet you'll always bring something now! lots2do |
