While looking for fabric, I stumbled across this. I'm so intrigued. What would you do with this (in quilting, of course)?

Here's where I found it:

A foundation for appliques----dragon flies, butterflies, kitten.....etc. Very pretty fabric.

My first thought also. Perfect fabric for background for applique!

Caroline S 05-20-2012 05:42 AM

I am thinking it would make a nice background fabric for a landscape quilt.

XYZ123 05-20-2012 05:43 AM

Perhaps a border.

jillaine 05-20-2012 05:57 AM

what's a landcape quilt?

jillaine 05-20-2012 05:59 AM

Ah.... just went to http://images.google.com and entered "landscape quilt"

Amazing...mmm....

Elainequilts 05-20-2012 06:02 AM

Screams window shade to me.

0tis 05-20-2012 06:07 AM

Its very pretty - I was thinking - pillowcase - I love to make pretty or cute pillowcases to dress up a bed - I also think that it would look great on a landscape quilt.

QuiltnNan 05-20-2012 06:09 AM

i'd love it for a border on a garden themed quilt. or it would make a good stack and whach.

NanaCsews2 05-20-2012 06:12 AM

If not a landscape quilt, then applique it on a floral trellis quilt. In and amongst morning glories would be beautiful!

DebbE 05-20-2012 06:27 AM

I first thought it would make a nice border on a simple floral quilt. Second thought was it would be lovely simple gathered curtains for a window (cafe style) with a nice quilted floral valance....great fabric.

ube quilting 05-20-2012 06:30 AM

Depending on the direction of the pattern I would use this beauty as a border on a garden style quilt. Love it, TFS.
peace

OH my gosh , it looks like a crazy quilt block before ya put the ribbon work and stitches on it. Beautiful. it also looks like stalks of flowers next to lake. Very pretty.

Mona Marie 05-20-2012 06:52 AM

I saw someone use it for a border. But like the applique idea better.

EvelynJ 05-20-2012 07:05 AM

Wow, that's really great material. My first thought was drapes for a utility room (where my washer and dryer are) to liven it up a bit. But I know it would make a great landscape piece with possibly mountains set far back. Would be cute for small applique animals like small rabbits, butterflies, birds, and cute mice intermixed. That would be really hard to decide. I can't wait to see what you make out of it!

mighty 05-20-2012 07:30 AM

I agree landscape quilt!

b.zang 05-20-2012 07:36 AM

keep it in my stash, take it out occasionally, pet it and promise 'some day, my pretty'

cjackaitlin 05-20-2012 08:10 AM

I also think of a landscape quilt, with meadows of flowers and butterflies. That woulld look so cool.

Tartan 05-20-2012 08:35 AM

It would look good in a landscape quilt but I would use it for an appliqué wallhanging. The fabric reminds me of hollyhocks. I can see the fabric used around the appliqué of an old English style cottage with a thatched roof. Great fabric!

leejon 05-20-2012 08:47 AM

otis, pillow cases of pretty fabrics for your bed, what a great idea guess i know what my next project will be lol

Kathy T. 05-20-2012 09:02 AM

I would use it behind one of the laser-cut applique stencils (like frames or windows). This is one website, but there are many others that sell these. Someday, I'm going to make one!

I agree on the landscape quilt. Could be interesting. Good luck finding the right thing

So many ideas...hummmmmmmmm - a landscape quilt, a base for applique, a wonderful wide border on a soft -colored quilt top. It's just a delicious piece of fabric. Thanks for sharing.

I think you should get rid of it . it would look nice in my TN home to be a quilt of the future

This is also my comment. I wish I had some of this fabric. It would probably shrink with all of my drooling over it.

I would embroider some hummingbirds or other birds at the top and a few little bunnies in the bottom

I think it'd be a pretty border or part of a landscape quilt.

kuntryquilter 05-21-2012 02:50 AM

I like the applique idea of dragon flies & butter flies, birds, maybe a cat, dog & frogs at the bottom.

Krystyna 05-21-2012 03:44 AM

It is so pretty. I think I'd have a hard time deciding, too! Applique seems like a great solution. Or embroidery.

jeanneb52 05-21-2012 04:03 AM

Sorry to outside the box but looks like a blouse to me. I would love to wear it with beige jeans.

margee 05-21-2012 04:30 AM

My thought would be to choose a quilting pattern to fit it and then quilt the entire piece. I think I could look at this & always enjoy it.

Cindy60545 05-21-2012 04:31 AM

I see applique butterflies, maybe a fence in front, a garden. Landscape background.

Freckles48 05-21-2012 04:46 AM

One other suggestion- leave it as it is and overstitch it with french knots and all kinds of other decorative stitching. It is beautiful.

Delta 05-21-2012 04:58 AM

cool cool cool applique some butterflies on it and there you go. looks wonderful. I would of bought it too.

One of my distant goals is to make a french knot picture. I have a wonderful book with examples. This would be a great background to use for that then frame it for the wall. My problem is lack of wall space.

emlee51 05-21-2012 05:23 AM

I'm with otis...pillowcases.

MimiBug123 05-21-2012 07:41 AM

Maybe a water color quilt. Beautiful fabric!

laffygiraffe 05-21-2012 08:02 AM

I'm thinking appliqued butterflies, dragonflies, and bugs all over it.
