I am making a train quilt for my dad. I can't decide if I want to use "sky" or "landscape" for the background.

I'm voting sky. My husband has been waiting for his "train quilt". Sorry, it isn't even in the "I'll think about stage yet."

use half & half.. why not use landscape for the lower part of the block/train and the sky for the top portion of the block..

It's like traveling on a train with the many different landscapes.. could be lots of fun to do different views.. Country, forest, towns. mountains.. how about a train robber on a horse.. ???

Landscaping.

I would say say both. Trains move through the countryside, having different views throughout their journey, it gives it a more realistic view if you make blocks of both.
