I've also had that sort of problem when the plastic bobbin I was using did not match my machine. I didn't know some machines used slightly different bobbins that looked 'just like' each other.

What a wonderful hint to use unwaxed thread for upper tension. Thank you - I have a Singer 401, and oil and grease faithfully but this idea sure sounds perfect.

First, though, just try tightening the upper tension by 2 numbers or so and see what happens. It may be that oiling changed the tensioning requirements. |
Come on :!: Did you get your machine fixed or not :?: :?:

If it only does this on curves then I would say it is from going to fast. I have had the same problem.

Make sure the presser foot is down. This happens to me whenever I forget.

Mine does this when the bobbin isn't threaded right.

I get that problem when I take the curves too fast.

Also check to see if your bobbins are wound evenly. :)
