Try rethreading your machine with the presser foot up. I was having the same thing happen and found this was the problem. If you thread the machine with the presser foot down, the thread does not get between the tension discs like it should.

I would disagree as I do FMQ quite fast it is definitely the setup of the machine, somewhere something is not quite right. I have had it once and I think I had to re-thread my bobbin, but there again it could have been 2 different threads :!:

I was taught by my repair man to wind the bobbin really tightly. I have a Janome 6600P and I wrap the thread twice around the flat circular holder on the top of my machine. Since I have been doing this and making sure my top thread is threaded right I have had no problems. I also agree that the top tension is the culprit.
