What is your oldest UFO? Mine 2004-2006

Decided this was the year to finish my UFO's and have a month and half to spare lol. Thought I only had two but found the blocks for the table runner from 2004 in my fabric closet. My BFF from IL, her daughter in law and I exchanged 2 blocks. This will be on my table in spring with the bright colors. Then in 2005 our guild had a challenge if you wanted to purchase this winter scene fabric and make a 12 1/2" block and I was lucky to receive 11blocks, think two other gals won also. The one block was on point and wasn't sure what to do. So this year I made a nine patch on point so problem solved. Still very much an amateur quilter so quilted it with wonky stars and some even look like stars. Others I lost my momentum and not sure what happened. Had gone to a quilt show and fell in love with the barn quilt, not sure why as I am a city girl. Our group had a weekend retreat and got 5 blocks done and the 6th one kinda started. It is suppose to have 9blocks but six is good with big borders. It will be a nice throw for a soldier/vet. Did a meander quilting. So glad these are done, like a weight lifted.

Well done and it feels so good to clear up U.F.O.'s . I think Bonnie Hunter has you beat as she posted pictures on her Quiltville site of her Hexagon quilt that she is finally going to hand quilt from 1999!

I like your colorful stars - congratulations on getting your UFOs done. Now if only I would finish the basket quilt that I started back in the 70's.

From 2017, a stack of lap robes and a Christmas tree skirt.
Maybe 2018.

You may be surprised to hear that my oldest quilting UFO is somewhere around 56 years old. lol I was a child, and my mother had bought me a little child-sized electric straight stitch sewing machine. My grandmother cut squares of fabric from her stash (with a scissors), and I traced the square on her odd shaped little scraps using a lead pencil and a cereal box cardboard template. I was learning to quilt with these two great seamstresses/quilters. While Grandma and I were cutting and tracing, my mother went alone to the fabric store to get a plain colored fabric to use with the prints. She brought back a light brown, muddy, tannish, flesh colored fabric that I thought was the ugliest color that could have been available to buy. I sewed 9-patches with 4 prints and 5 pukey brown pieces. But I lost interest in the blocks because of the plain colored fabric. If my mother had brought us light blue, or pink, or pale yellow, or any other color I might have finished the project! Well, I haven't thrown it away or lost it. It's been in a box, coming with me from home to home all these years, so I might finish it yet.
