Here's mine. I have two quilts I will rotate. The log cabin is now--maybe about April I'll switch to Garden Path.

I can't find the picture of Garden Path on my bed--but it's under the post "The hardest one I've ever made." :D

Pam Pollock 01-11-2008 01:58 PM

Your quilts are all beautiful! I haven't made a quilt for my bed yet but I found a pattern that my husband & I both likes & so I'm going to make it a project for this year. I'm looking forward to collecting the materials for it!

Country Quilter 01-11-2008 02:01 PM

These are all beautiful quilts.....my hubby bought one of those "bed in a bag" sets and won't give up the comforter for a homemade quilt....I made a king size fan quilt for the bed and its folded up and put away! :(

Pam Pollock 01-11-2008 02:14 PM

Ok Patsy, You just have to let him help you pick out a pattern that you can both agree on & then maybe you will get to finally put a quilt on your bed. Currently I have a bed in the bag comforter on my bed too (probably with our cat on it). LOL :D

I've made 2 different quilts to put on our bed then when finished Hubby says..."oh no...you can't put those on the bed for the cats to ruin...they are much too pretty". Hmmmmm I can't figure out if he actually doesn't like them and is being nice or he really thinks that...here was the last 1 I made to go on the bed...but it isn't

Does he like a puffy quilt/comforter, Patsy? My sons do, too.

Country Quilter 01-11-2008 04:38 PM

Yup...thats what it is Cathe! And I had another queen size one on another bed and washed it and it clumps up in the wash! They don't quilt them enuf and it looked awful after washing it!

MissTreated 01-11-2008 05:20 PM

Gorgeous quilts, ladies! Keep 'em comin'!

sandpat 01-12-2008 04:06 PM

Thank you Pam. For now its just stored under some other junk on our guest bed. I'm loving the colors of the quilts on this thread. Cathe, I didn't think I'd like a red and white but I really love yours!

I made this for sil a few years ago as a wedding present, wedding was called off, so we ended up with it on our bed. I probably never would have made one for myself otherwise.

Quilts from the Heart 01-15-2008 03:05 PM

sandpat -- what a lovely quilt!! If not on your bed, why not hang it on the wall?

quiltmaker101 01-15-2008 06:01 PM

Those are some beautiful quilts!

I would have to make my bed to take a new picture, so you will have to make do with my Avatar. That is what's on my bed.

Diamonds 01-15-2008 06:38 PM

All of them are beautiful..

I also a comforter on my bed right now... I do have a top that I want to put on the bed... I am dropping it off at the quilters next week... It is a "Around The World"...

Hi Guys:
What's on my bed? Well, they are on a bed now but their destined for the quilt rack in the TV room.

Today I just finished quilting 2 tops that I've been working on forever. I layed them on a bed to get the pictures but they are "UTILITY' quilts. You know, the quilts that are so well loved and used that there isn't an evening of TV viewing where someone isn't all wrapped up in the warmth of a quilt...these are the 2 newest ones. Our utility quilts are so well used that they wear out in about a 2 year period of time since they are washed often and they not only give warmth but they become tents for the grands and kneading grounds for the foster kittens.

It's not WHAT, but WHO is on my bed. Yup, she'd been there for 18 years and we both love every minute of it. But the quilt that she's posed on is a sampler of blocks, all made from animal skin prints; tiger, leopard, etc. The quilt sits in one of the guest bedrooms, along with decorative tiger items from my travels. Everyone has such beautiful quilts on their beds. It makes me determined to finish a quilt for myself this year. I usually give everything I make away so unless someone goes down into my quilt room it doesn't even look like a quilter lives here. My DH has requested that this year, except for my charity quilts, I do up some quilts for us and the house. Oh geez, another excuse to spend the days down in my quilt room. Okay!

Well it's not on my bed, but on the guest room bed. I have yet to make on to fit my pillow-topped queen bed. Maybe that should be my next project or the next or next or.... you know how it goes ... make them for everyone else and we are last. But here is the picture of the one on the guest bed;

I have purchased quite a few vintage quilt tops (usually 1930's or newer). I also purchase vintage material when I have the opportunity to do so. I used to go the flea markets and antique fairs on a regular basis to look for quilt tops and fabric. As prices have gotten more expensive, I've cut down on my purchases. However, when I am traveling I make a point to check out the antique stores.

This is a top I purchased at an antique fair. I think it is from the 40s. I took it apart, re-cut and re-did the blocks as the top didn't lay flat. I hand quilted it and am very pleased!.

The quilt that is on my bed.

Detail of the hand quilting. I used a thin all cotton batting (Hobbs, I think) that was a joy to quilt.

What a gorgeous quilt Grammy Dwynn! Your guests must love sleeping under it.

I love scrappy quilts. I could sit and look through all the different fabrics in the quilt for hours. I know, I know, I'm easily amused.

Hi Folks!

ANOTHER snow day here today...blizzard warning!

SO! After I made the bed, I decided to take a picture for this topic!

It is a Maple Leaf quilt ( I have LOVED maples since we adopted our flag in 1967!! I was 9!)

It is tessellated and has five colour families in it (red, green, yellow, brown and orange) with each colour group having between 12 and 15 different kinds of material. Sewing the quilt was a simple procedure but the planning and execution of the planning was gruesome. Because of the tessellation you have to know and use colours from the blocks all around the block you're doing. I goofed once and didn't see it until AFTER it was quilted ( hand quilted 1/4" around each leaf) so it wasn't coming apart. But the goof was substituting one yellow triangle for another yellow fabric so it isn't awful!

I made it for my husband- to- be for our bed. Sadly he is colourblind so he really doesn't appreciate it like I do, but he does appreciate the workmanship and dedication so that means a lot.

Happy Quilting~
Lori
