I thought it was just a modified french braid 'cause I wasn't changing directions or putting in a big center block. After reading some posts on this board, I found out it was an actual pattern: Friendship Braid. Uhmmmm, imagine that, because I'm making it for some longtime family friends who are getting married in July . . . Did this as a kind of quilt-as-you-go, quilting the "braids" with SID and then adding/quilting the sashing. Now all I have to add the drops and quilt those.

So pretty!! I did the same thing once, I modified a pattern I saw in a picture thinking I so smart, only to find out the pattern I made already had a name, and a pretty popular one at that!! LOL Oh well guess we won't be making our millions off our "inventions" :)

What a lovely wedding present. I still have a quilt that was made for me when I married. That was more than 30 yrs ago and I still cherish it. Maybe more so because everyone connected to the quilt time has died.
This quilt is beautiful.

Quilter2B 04-17-2010 03:44 PM

Thank you all for the lovely comments. I was really unsure when I started it whether the blues would be too much together but I'm really happy with it. So is my "quilting buddy".

I've been working (in my mind's eye) how I'm going to do the drop (14" on the sides) in a quilt as you go method and built stars for the corners so the quilt been folded up on my sewing table - he's slept on it for the past two nights. Definately will need a wash before it gets sent to Oregon!

zz-pd 04-17-2010 10:46 PM
