Love the quilt and love the way you posted all the information. The fussy cut "sidelights" really add to the overall effect. I've made this pattern several times - it is so adaptable!

I love your quilt. I also share your frustration about the panel. It seems when I think I will follow a simple pattern using a panel it turns out to be not so simple - the panel is not quite the right size, it is a little off centered, etc. I know the teacher will love the quilt - who wouldn't.

Someone in our quilt club did the same thing....with another panel. It turned out beautiful, and so is yours!!

Asymmetrical designs lend interest to a quilt. The teacher will be happy and proud to receive it.

I think the recipient will love it! I like the asymmetrical look very much.

I think the recepient will love it. As for the asymmetry, I am telling the truth here when I say that is the first one I have seen that I actually liked. Every other I have seen laid out like this I couldn't stand looking at. This one has a nice "story" with the panels. Thanks for sharing.

The quilt is actually very well balanced and is beautifully finished. I'm sure she will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

Actually having to enlarge the focus panel added to the art of this quilt. The panel looks like it has been framed. Good job.

I love your quilt. As a retired 1st grade teacher, I think the teacher will love it. May I ask why the black square at the bottom? If it was in the fab. that way, may I make a suggestion. Use it as a blackboard with the quilt information - teacher's name, maker, from child, year, etc. all done in either white or yellow as would be the color of chalk that most use when writing on the chalkboard. Or if you prefer to put your label on the back. Make it as a chalk board. Nice quilt.

Chalk board is a great idea. I was going to put my grandson's name and the year on it somewhere and that's where it should go. It's not a black square - it's blue on blue with a suble floral print. I tried to pick out primary colors from the panel that each had a shape in it. The black with white stars bothers me - the quilt shop lady came up with that one and I know it goes - black and white are in the panel and a star is a shape, but ... I don't like it. i needed three pieces to go between the fussy cut blocks and got the blue, green, and black.
