What teacher wouldn't just love that. It is perfect.

Perfect for a teacher. Nice job

The asymmetry is rather appealing, I think. The prints are fantastic. What a fun quilt it will be!

What a great job! It looks like it was meant to be like that.
|
if someone gave this to me as a gift I'd be ecstatic!

MEN :( - Why do we even listen to them when they nothing about art or quilting? Go for it and be proud.

Panel: Recess by American Jane Patterns - Sandy Klop for Moda. Panel was about 27" long and pattern called for 38.5" - so the fun began. You can see all the strips I added to get it to the correct size. Pattern: Sidelights (Pattern #302 Mountainpeek Creations) I've looked at this pattern over and over and finally found a panel I wanted to try with it. NEVER thought about there not being a "panel" size! This would be easier if you had a focus fabric and just cut it to fit. Fabric: most from stash with not enough selvedge to read, but outer border is #21301 - Sandy Klop, American Jane Patterns' "A Breath of Avignon" by Moda Fabrics THAT IS HILARIOUS! I just looked up that fabric by pattern number and had no idea it was the same line! Got the panel for next to nothing in Houston, TX at the Texas Shop Hop back in September. It was in a basket of sale items on the porch of the shop. Bought the fabric Friday in Richmond, TX. THey had a 25% sale on all fabrics. Too funny! My husband looked at it and said - where are the other blocks? The asymetric look of it that I loved threw him. HMMMM. I'm making this for my grandson's preschool teacher for the end of year in May. Now I'm a bit concerned my daughter won't be thrilled - I want her to be thrilled! (For the record: she loves everything I do and was thrilled when I offered to make something for this precious teacher. I really want it to be something she thinks is wonderful.) Finished size: 46.5 X 62.5 (according to the pattern) |
I like it asymetrically, and as a former teacher, I am sure the teacher will treasure it with fond memories of the child.
