My grandmother made one like this in the 1930s. It was from a pattern in The Kansas City Star in those days. She used fabrics from my dad's and aunt's clothes along with purchased red yardage. She was a needle woman of note, but this first quilt pattern convinced her she wasn't cut our for quilting. Of course, trying to get all those points flat and even while hand piecing was pretty challenging for her first (and only) attempt at piecing. She gave it to me as a flimsy more than 30 years ago. I found a hand quilter who finished it, plus did a bit of repair. It is one of my most cherished possessions.
Sorry for the hijack, but it brought back memories. Your quilt is lovely.
