From white sashing to charcoal sashing
2 Attachment(s)
Back in February I posted the results of a mystery quilt day, sponsored by the past presidents of our quilt guild in Guelph. Its always a fun day, but I came away unhappy with my quilt. I always use stash materials for these, but this time the results did nothing for me; Too Blah!
So I recently finished taking all the blocks apart and reassembling them in Charcoal rather than white. But as this "lap" quilt was too small for me, I decided to sash everything a second time. Now it's more exciting. And I can see some pretty dramatic quilting happening here. I posted the original as well as the new version. I'll add an additional border 6 inches all around while I wait for the wide back material I ordered to arrive. I'll repost when the quilt is finished. MaryKatherine |
Love it! Very dramatic effect with the charcoal!

I love both. Dark and light, day and night. Beautiful quilts
Beautiful! I like it so much better with the charcoal! Good thinking!
looks great in charcoal... what a lot of work
wow. that looks so different than it did before. I like it with the Charcoal
Amazing difference, but a lot of ripping. That is beautiful.
Very pretty.
What a difference! The colors really pop. I can't wait to see it with the quilting.
I love them both but am amazed at how different they are!
The white sashing was very nice. The gray is awesome! Definitely worth the time to redo.
very nice i like the white !!
Two different looks, but I must say - I like them both.
Oh, yes! The charcoal sashing made all the difference! I love the simplicity of the quilt top and can't wait to see the quilt quilted!
Quite a difference. It is amazing what a big difference can be made with just a different colored sashing.
I really like the gray too! That was a lot of seam rippin'!
I love seeing the same quilt in different color ways! It is amazing the difference it makes. I like both of your but the 2nd one is my favorite.
What a difference. Like both but prefer the charcoal
Well done! I like the charcoal

I love the dark colors in the background. Doesn't go well with my white English Bull Terrier mix though~~lol
I thought I was the only one who came away from a workshop with my project in hand only to do redo it when I got home. I do love your change.

I liked the white, however the black really makes the colors pop. I have found out if I don't like how something looks, I won't ever finish it.
I like them both. As was said, "Night and Day". Too bad you couldn't have done it both ways and then put them together. Look forward to seeing it after it's quilted. BrendaK

Looks great....
Lookin good!
Love the Charcoal, makes it pop more.
First, you and your seam ripper must have become best friends! What patience you have. When I have stuff to rip out can I send it to you? Now, as to your quilt. I liked it with the white blocks, I thought it was pretty. But when you changed it to charcoal...WOW! That was a brilliant idea, and I NEVER would have thought of it. I think white or black. Now, I'm going to keep that in the back of my mind for future reference. The quilt is beautiful, great job!

love the charcoal
I love how it turned out.
Brilliant, I love the charcoal, can't wait to see it finished!
A lot of work but the result is amazing - love the charcoal and double sashing! I can't wait to see it quilted.
What difference the charcoal made in the top!
Wow, what a difference! The charcoal just makes it pop.
