Brown is a great color - so much warmth and earthiness. Your quilts are lovely! Now orange? THAT's a color I have trouble with. :)

Some people don't love grey or yellow - whatever. Personally, I don't have a real aversion to brown, but if I were choosing a color for a quilt, brown would be pretty far down the list.
I think it's because we see so many "browns" in quilting that we get tired of it?
I love those two u showed us . I tend to love the more colorful ones now. |

I'm not a huge fan of pink in my own stash, but love it in other people's quilts. Go figure. LOL!

It's all in the colors that you like. I'll bet you wear browns and golds. The quilts are beautiful.

Beautiful Brown Quilts!!!
Your quilts are very pretty. Many years ago when we did garment sewing, the browns and purples had like a dusty tone to them. The colors now are so much brighter, and true colors.
Both are beautiful!

I love brown. I like the Fall colors. I'm finding I love just about all the colors.
Those are very pretty quilts. I love brown, although never did one in that color. I think it is time.
These are beautiful! Can't imagine anyone not liking a brown quilt like either of these.
I recently made a "brown" quilt, too, and got kind of the same reaction here on the board. I don't even like brown myself but fell in love with a fabric that had brown in it. Brown is actually a nice rich color if handled correctly. I've seen some absolutely gorgeous (including yours) "brown" quilts. |
Love the quilts.

although I am quite fond of browns, many people aren't--it's subtle and mundane--and doesn't make colors pop like black does! your quilts are lovely...
Brown makes me frown and brings me down...hahaha. Actually brown can be very rich and I have used it occasionally. However when I looked at my stash, I have no brown in it. I, however, have been toying with the idea of making a red and brown quilt.Your quilts are both beautiful and cause me to appreciate brown a little more.

I love brown and awesome quilts!
they look great to me
Jean I think your quilts are gorgeous and like another poster stated EVERYTHING you put your hand to is unique and beautifully 'yours'...
Reading all the comments and yet, I cannot think of a color I don't like. Now patterns/designs on fabric...I don't like the modern fabric designs but I love the aqua's and vibrancy of the modern fabrics...just don't particularly like the patterns on the modern fabric. Show me a realistic floral rose or poinsettia, mum I'm apt to swoon. I really like Eleanor Burns vintage looking floral fabrics. I've come to really like 30's fabrics and Civil War fabrics which include a lot of brown colorways. |
I agree with you. Both brown quilts are fantastic. I just made one for my nephews graduation gift. I loved it too.
Two great quilts! Browns are beautiful!
Wow! These quilts are gorgeous! I like brown and think with certain other colors it's needed.
Both are beautiful.
Beautiful quilts and I too have not used many browns but will have to give it a try.
I like brown. I always wanted a brown dress when I was growing up but my mother hated brown. And green. So I never got those colors. Maybe that's why green is my favorite now and brown is used a lot. LOL
Brown is so warm and a good accent for a lot of other colors. |
I'm working on a brown for our bedroom. I have black brown curtains.
Well done! And brown is a great color!
