My husband and I drove to Rockport, Texas, to attend an an annual "Hummer Bird" Festival. It was a breathtaking experience, especially the garden tours, where some people had literally dozens of feeders swarming with hummingbirds, who stop by to fuel up on their annual fall migration. I only took about 500 photos! Here are three.
Willowy sunflowers grow wild in this coastal community. Some gardens had literally dozens of feeders set up and the birds swarmed around them all. A native desert willow was teeming with hummers, but this tiny creature posed nicely!. Between visits to feeders, the tiny hummers rested on scrubby trees. Hard to get picture when some hummers flap wings up to 60 times a SECOND. Wings get a big workout! Hummer must enjoy those little foot rests! So sweet. We saw a number of different varieties. |

We have hummingbirds coming through the area I live north of Houston, but rarely do I see more than 2, maybe 3, at a time. They don't like to share. My husband and I decided to go today and buy a few more bottles to feed them!
