My husband and I drove to Rockport, Texas, to attend an an annual "Hummer Bird" Festival. It was a breathtaking experience, especially the garden tours, where some people had literally dozens of feeders swarming with hummingbirds, who stop by to fuel up on their annual fall migration. I only took about 500 photos! Here are three.

Willowy sunflowers grow wild in this coastal community.

A native desert willow was teeming with hummers, but this tiny creature posed nicely!.

Between visits to feeders, the tiny hummers rested on scrubby trees.

Hard to get picture when some hummers flap wings up to 60 times a SECOND.

Hummer must enjoy those little foot rests! So sweet. We saw a number of different varieties.

We have hummingbirds coming through the area I live north of Houston, but rarely do I see more than 2, maybe 3, at a time. They don't like to share. My husband and I decided to go today and buy a few more bottles to feed them!

Oh I love to watch them as well. Thanks for sharing the pictures. We have them come to some wild flowers in our back yard & the rose of sharon in the front. They move so fast, like lighting.

We were at a winery in Central California weekend before last. On their tasting patio was a very large hummingbird feeder and so many hummers, completely oblivious to the humans. The gal conducting the wine tasting said that when they bring the pitcher out every morning to refill the feeder some of the hummers actually perch on it for the walk to the dispenser. Beautiful

Thanks for posting the fabulous pictures, I love hummers! I think ours have migrated, haven't seen any for about a week, it's getting cool here in Colorado.
