Izaquilter 06-25-2011 06:43 PM

wellllll it might be one of the reasons they say not to sew over pins! I'm always afraid of breaking a needle tho!

erstan947 06-25-2011 06:44 PM

not too great on the needle:)

RkayD 06-25-2011 06:44 PM

haven't ever seen it done like that. =)

oma66 06-25-2011 06:45 PM

I sew over silk pins all the time....but I slow the machine to go over them.

I really like the quilt in your avatar picture. It looks like a maple leaf with a heart in the center. Is that right? It is lovely.

Lori S 06-25-2011 06:46 PM

I am just amazed the needle went through the pin head and did not break.

Lilrain 06-25-2011 06:46 PM

I am laughing out loud

debcavan 06-25-2011 06:46 PM

Yes and they are so thin you can do it. Been there done that. Thanks for making me feel human

Painiacs 06-25-2011 07:41 PM

Wow ! Didn't know it would do that!!

DebraK 06-25-2011 07:49 PM

oh no! I actualy read in a book, that could happen. Glad to see she wasn't lying ;-)

jmabby 06-25-2011 07:59 PM

I can't imagine what non-quilters would say about some of the things we do, remember last week when I put the machine needle through my finger, but we keep sewing.

jayelee 06-25-2011 08:10 PM

WOW LOL

vic 06-25-2011 08:10 PM

I zigzaged my thumb this week.

Oh my goodness. I thought I was the only one. And everytime I reuse that particular straight pin, it makes me laugh all over again. The needle continued to work as if it never happened. The hardest part was getting the thread back out of the holes! Thank you for making me feel less alone!

BrendaY 06-25-2011 08:14 PM

What sewing machine were you using to do that?!

Cyn 06-25-2011 08:15 PM

I've done this before too :)

nellie 06-25-2011 08:22 PM

wow thats not good

JanetM 06-25-2011 08:25 PM

   That was one sharp needle.....WAS!

fleurdelisquilts.com 06-25-2011 08:26 PM

Aren't you glad it wasn't your finger? Did that once, I bled for the longest time b/c I was taking blood thinners. Hurt a bit, too!

Moonglow 06-25-2011 09:28 PM

Ooops!

Love angels 06-25-2011 09:30 PM

LOL I would have thought the needle would have broke within the first hole. That is to funny.

slk350 06-25-2011 09:39 PM

I had to chuckle at that. I had the same thing happen a few years ago, and just a few days ago the pin came out of the flower. Mine actually had some thread in it.

tammy cosper 06-25-2011 09:43 PM

OUCH!

dellareya 06-25-2011 09:49 PM

So glad you put this up on the board. I thought I was the only one that ever did anything like this. The darn iron will also melt these cute pins.

SharonD 06-25-2011 10:23 PM

you have given it a little fringe

jackied 06-25-2011 10:25 PM

Oh my gosh, you just made my day. That is so funny. Its a wonder you didn't break or at least bend the needle.

Selena 06-25-2011 10:30 PM

I did that the other day. Were you surprised that it didn't break the needle like I was?

C.Cal Quilt Girl 06-25-2011 10:39 PM

Hang my head as I admit, yep have done that one also, :)
Cool part is didn't break the needle, were able to pick it back out of the seam, didn't send the seam in a strange direction, like it does if you hit a round headed pins.
JMO... I do like this style of pin. :)

wannaquilt1 06-25-2011 10:50 PM

lol i love it!

Mimmis57 06-26-2011 03:06 AM

Hey how did you get my picture? I know I've done that a few more times than I'd like to admit!

krabadan 06-26-2011 03:30 AM

I have pins that look like that too!

emerald46 06-26-2011 03:33 AM

lol.

QuiltnNan 06-26-2011 03:39 AM

teri lynne 06-26-2011 04:28 AM

Last week I ironed some of my pins and melted the tops.
