Really beautiful. Are the fabrics batisks?

pdunn56 01-20-2011 09:12 PM

STUNNING!

pittsburgpam 01-20-2011 09:13 PM

Yes, it's batiks. I've used two Cappucino Balipops though I took out some strips that I didn't think went well with the others. Also used some pieces of a 14 FQ set of Bali Iced Tea, and 3 other lights and 4 darks. I think! Seems that I keep having to get more and more fabric for this.

I'm still not sure if I need more just to finish the first outer row of brown 4-patch blocks. The final row will be 4-patch blocks done with the black-on-black batiks that I took out of the Balipops.

Very nice, hope not anybody is around to bother you except with a cup of tea now and then.

Beautiful, great job.

Pam that is looking fantastic. I love those fabrics and I don't really go for brown but this is like shiny brown! LOL the way the blocks create the same secondary pattern between themselves is mesmerising. Pull a sicky, get 'er done! LOL

Beautiful.....but I hope you are watching the STEELERS on Sunday :)

pittsburgpam 01-21-2011 10:11 AM

Is that Pittsburgh Steelers? I'm in Pittsburg (without the H), California. :P

I almost didn't come into work today because I am closing on an investment property and I need to go sign papers either this afternoon or Monday. I may take off work at noon but, it's over an hour drive from here and then 45 minutes to get back home from where the house is.

That doesn't gain me a lot of extra time to work on it!

Patchworkmarion 01-21-2011 12:44 PM

Wow! That is wonderful

twixbar 01-21-2011 03:04 PM

Got one row sewn together and the side strip. :) It took me about 3 hours yesterday morning and 3 hours in the evening. It's taking a long time to sew and press every row of blocks, with the center block seams pressed open, and then pressing open the seams between each row of blocks. Then pressing open on the side strips. All those points make too much bulk to press the seams one way.

I decided to add the two rows of end blocks to each row now instead of waiting until the rows are sew together. There's no reason to wait until then and wrestle with larger sections to do the ends.

I love how the ends look! All those different little pieces. I am half done with all of the wedge blocks to round out the circles but, now I have to do the 4-patch blocks too before sewing it all together.

OUTSTANDING!!

I love it!

marmalade 02-16-2011 09:37 AM

That looks like it took an awful amount of piecing & time to do, but it is worth it! Simply a stunner!

pittsburgpam 02-16-2011 09:49 AM

Still working on it. It IS a lot of work and I ran out of steam long ago. I am on the 4th and last row of 3 blocks, one is sewn and needs to be pressed, the second is sewn into rows and needs to be pressed and finished, the last one is still in squares. Two rows are sewn together and the third is ready to sew to the other two.

I try to work on it a little bit at a time. It's just really getting to me!

wow wow wow ~ did I forget to say WOW!? OMG that is gorgeous, I love the variety of fabrics, too, looks like some have a little gold gilt, that just makes it even better

marmalade 02-17-2011 08:09 PM

OH no! I thought you were finished, but I can understand. Maybe you should put it aside for the upcoming weekend, and pick it up again on Monday. A weekend off will change the way you look at it (i am keeping my fingers crossed for you...)
