Winnie the Pooh Quilt for Baby Jordy!

7 Attachment(s)
I just want to thank Kathy and Kim members on this board, so much for sending me the winnie the pooh pieces. .I wanted to make a quilt for my bosses' daughter and she had told me the baby room would be green and yellow, and that if I could find the original winnie the pooh ( without the red shirt) she would really appreciate it . She said if not she would love anything I made. I have not seen the room or the colours, as she lives 3 hours away. So I was picking colours and layout blindly. I looked all over my home town, Windsor, and even went to Michigan.. I could only find the blue material on the back of the quilt with the original winnie the pooh. I decided to post in the wanted section on this board a request for any antique winnie the pooh material over a month ago. True to the nature of this board within two days I received two replies , one from Kathy and one from Kim telling me they had material. I was so excited to receive their cutoff! When it first arrived I didn't know what I was going to do with it... I took it to my quilting teacher Judy and she helped me to decide on a design for the blocks! Thankyou Judy!! you are the best! I am quite busy so it has taken me a month to find the time to get it all together...This is the first time I have attempted meandering .. and although I'm sure you ladies with quilters eyes will see the mistakes, the giftee doesn't quilt and the best compliment of all was when she called me at work this morning crying and telling me that it was perfect and matched the baby's room exactly! She said she couldnt have picked something better.... I told her about this board and how Kathy and Kim sent me the material... She said to make sure I thank you for your contributions to a family treasure!

I love your quilt. Wonderful job! I was planning on making a winnie the pooh quilt for my sister's son (she decorated his nursery in a pooh bear theme.) Do you mind sharing where you got the fabric. Thanks so much.

I got them from a quilt board member ,I have some of the poohs left and some. If you send me your mailing address I will pass them on to you.. they are pieces so not sure if you can use them but hoping they will help. I have probably 12 squares of pooh, and maybe some of the white border material left... not enough for a border,...plus someone else sent me some pooh labels, but they don;t match the colours very well with my design. I also have some of the blue backing left . I'll include that as well ...pm me with your address and I will send to you! If you want them let me know and I will mail them to you. sort of my way of paying it forward..

Angie

HOW BEAUTIFUL! It's amazing what one can do with "scraps" isn't it? I'm so glad I could help. As I told you, I'm still in love with that bear and I'm 49! While I tend to lean towards the "cartoon" version, I do have some classic pooh in my collection.

Someone asked about the fabric -- it was a set of sheets. Long before they made queen size sheets, I thought if I purchased 2 sets of full, that I could put them together and make 1 queen set. Somehow, I managed to pull it off! And what I had left and shared with Angie, paying forward from someone else on the board who helped me out when I was searching for something.

Judy did a great job with helping lay it out. It really is a work of heart.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I loved seeing it.

Kat

Beautiful quilt and what a great story with it. I love reading stuff like this - someone cared to try to make a special gift for a friend, random people here cared to help and we all get to see how wonderfully it all turned out. This just made my day!
