Well, it was easier than mitering. I was putting off the binding because I didn't know how I was going to deal with the bulk of the velvet doubled and interfaced. Finally decided it wouldn't look too bad with rounded corners. I machine stitched it onto the velvet side and than hand-stitched it to the silk side. Silk velvet is actually easier to work with than velveteen or rayon velvet. This was a labor of love, and may even do another one with all the silk I have left, maybe a crazy patch.

I just have to add my excitement at seeing such a marvelous quilt! I'm positive your daughter will cherish that for the rest of her life.

Beautiful! I have some silk pieces and was thinking of making a quilt someday from them. Thanks for sharing! And I love silk velvet. I hope your DDIL knows that she has an heirloom.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I know she will cherish it. I made a kind of poem to go with it. And I am making a label for it right now. She is a breast cancer survivor, over 5 years now. We have a very special relationship. She and my son dated in high school, and then parted ways for 10 years before getting back together. We got really close making her wedding gown, and share a relationship few in-laws share.
