Beautiful! I have some silk pieces and was thinking of making a quilt someday from them. Thanks for sharing! And I love silk velvet. I hope your DDIL knows that she has an heirloom.
Thanks everyone. Yes, I know she will cherish it. I made a kind of poem to go with it. And I am making a label for it right now. She is a breast cancer survivor, over 5 years now. We have a very special relationship. She and my son dated in high school, and then parted ways for 10 years before getting back together. We got really close making her wedding gown, and share a relationship few in-laws share.
Oh, and my daughter has the lace tablecloth and DDIL has the silk quilt. Now I have to come up with something for the other DIL, not DDIL.

It is hard to know what to do for the 'not so darling' ones isn't it!

Yes, I am the MIL of convenience, it seems. I haven't talked to her since Christmas for whatever reason. Now that the 2 girls are in school, I am not needed, therefore not called either. She announced at Christmas that she wants a quilt for the queen-sized bed next Christmas. She may get some 10" blocks sewn together and SID, but not much more than that. Although she did love the pink & green cat quilt for the 10-year-old.

Ok, so pretty.... now tell us. Did you have to do anything in sewing the silk.. like using a fusable backing? or how was it to sew on the silk... very nice..
