Wow that was a longer delay than I anticipated. I took a tumble on some ice and even tho I luckily didn't do any new damage, it sure set off my fibro and the muscles are sore. I am fighting off headaches too. My massage therapist said she thinks I got a bit of whiplash from the fall so that explains the headaches.
Anyway, today I did a little sewing again, and this is what I got done.
I'd like your opinions on the windmills, and on the bamboo border with them. It is actually green, tho it looks brownish in the photos.

Working on panels for the top and bottom ends today. I think I will surround them with red. Or maybe pink then red. Hmmm... will try both to see what I prefer. Then the border and the top will be finished. Yayyyyyy..

Hi Linda! I was wondering how you were doing, and am so sorry to hear you had a fall! Thank heavens you didn't break anything; soreness is bad enough! I hope you recover quickly.

The quilt is looking great! I love the red fabric. What a great find from your sister. This is like a little panda party - very cute with all of the different panda fabrics. You're quite creative and I know the young lady will love it! Can't wait to see the finished quilt!

Hugs {gentle ones for the sore muscles :-) }

Love seeing your progress. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

I have the top all pieced together but my camera is acting up and I can't get the photo to download. I'm debating about adding a border or whether just the binding will do it. Was hoping to get some opinions here. Maybe DH can help when he gets home later. Hugs and smiles.

I have started another quilt, a throw for a dear friend of many years who recently was diagnosed with bladder cancer. The docs think they got it all with the surgery and haven't recommended further treatment except follow up testing in a few months.
I don't know the name of the pattern but I downloaded a photo of it and it's fun and pretty easy. I'll do photos later in a different thread. Hugs and smiles, Linda

Finally got camera back in working order... well, lol actually it was operator error.. here is finished top except for outside border. I'm debating what I want to use, other than a bamboo fabric for the last 3 or 4" border. Am thinking a narrow one inside that of the black check to tie it all together.
Any suggestions?

I think this quilt is busy and fun! HOwever imho I'd use a solid color for the borders to give your eye a resting place. Great work!

Here is my panda quilt I did out of some of those cute pandas. I had no pattern it took me 2.5 years from start to finish. It was my first quilt that I did onmy long arm too. I LOVE PANDAS!!!!

Big Red 04-05-2011 04:10 PM

I would do a solid black to frame it.

Thanks for that great suggestion. It was one of my first thoughts also, but unfortunately I don't have any solid black left after another quilt I made and I'm not in a postition to go out and buy more fabric. Maybe I'll have a sale to get some shopping funds. :D

Big Red 04-07-2011 07:15 AM

How much do you need?

wildyard 04-07-2011 07:52 AM

It is a twin sized quilt, and you are so kind to offer. The young lady in question is happy with a solid of any color so you need not send me your fabric for this one. She said she likes the busy-ness and is very happy with the way I can finish it with what I have on hand.
I don't usually meet or confer with the recipients of my quilts, but in this case I had the chance indirectly thru the contact person so I asked for opinions. She actually prefers the brighter colors.
I so appreciate your interest and willingness to share tho. Big hugggggggs and smilesssssssss!

This turned out SO cute! Love the lively colors and design. I'm sure she'll love it. Great job Linda!

And the same back to you from me re: sharing for a good cause. My life is so much more complete again now that I have quilting that lets me do things like this for others.

Wow, that came out great. It's so nice to see this group helping each other out and pooling our resources for a project. Quilting is it's own reward.

wildyard 04-09-2011 09:29 PM

BTW Big Red, I meant to tell you how much I love your panda fabric with the water running thru it. That adds so much to your quilt!! And it's a great quilt also. Hugs and smiles,

Ah today I got the borders on. As this quilt gets bigger, it becomes increasingly difficult for me to handle. I am beginning to wonder how I am going to manage the queen size quilt I am planning to make for our master bedroom one of these days. LOL..
Here are the photos of the quilt with the borders on. I know the receipient likes it, I hope you all do too.

I did a narrow check border with little pandas in the corners and then a pieced leafy print wider outer border

This is a very lively quilt. I think you did a great job on it. I am sure she thinks so too, especially with all the love that is in it. Thanks for letting us go along on the journey of its creation.

Thanks so much. It's the only way I know how to make a quilt. The love has to be there from the beginning. That's what gets me started. Smiles and hugssssss...
