This is the top, without borders. Right now it is about 70X80. No two squares are the same....

johanka 10-15-2011 04:47 PM

What size did you cut your print? What size is your white strips?

suebee 10-15-2011 04:48 PM

Very unique. I like it a lot.

I would think (by the size given) that each of the blocks is 10" so my guess would be that the center (colored) would be 6x10" and the white on either side 2x10". These are finished sizes so be sure to add 1/2" for cutting. The pattern comes from alternating the direction of the blocks.

Somebody already answered this, but the finished size is 10" square. I like to have some play for errors- the pattern strips are cut 10 1/2X 6 1/2, and the white strips 2 1/2x 10 1/2. Trim to 10 1/2 inch squares.

You can make this in an endless variety of ways- narrower sold strips or wider. As long as you end up with square blocks.

These are mostly 30's prints, but my brother plays guitar and bass, and my sister in law likes the atomic prints, so there are a few contemporary fabrics thrown in for interest.

I'm working on the borders and then will quilt it.

This is a really really easy pattern that doesn't look really easy. It's kind of an optical illusion. I have made it with the horizontal and vertical strips in different colors as well, which adds to the basket weave illusion.

I like your quilt. It looks like it is something a beginner can do and it looks like a quilt as you go pattern. Will you please share the pattern? Thanks so much.
