Thanks all for your kind comments. Got the sandwich done and basted last night, and boy am I sore!
Re: the Sedona mountains - I started with a photo of Sedona and matched a bunch of fabrics to the colors in the photo. (Bought a few key ones, others from stash) I made a strip-piecing from them, using random widths, as if the layers of rock. When I had a pretty big piece, I cut the mountains from it, having made a pattern of how I wanted them to look. I angled the sides of the mountains to give them depth. I pieced them together with the sky pieces. Thought about paper-piecing them, but my PP skills are still a WIP! |
Thanks so much for your quick response. I am certainly going to keep this in mind when I start my next southwestern quilt. I love the southwest and my entire house is decorated with things from that area. This quilt of yours really inspired me!
