I have been planning on adding another border of the orange to the outside of this quilt, but now that I have this much done, I really like the look of it like this. But I think it may need the orange border along with the purple.

What do you think? Would you add the orange border, or just use the orange for the binding?

Annaquilts 03-11-2011 12:06 PM

It looks complete and very nice without the border. I actually think in this case the border takes away because it becomes a vocal point. The color really pops.

SueJ 03-11-2011 12:07 PM

I really like it without the orange border

Teapots and Quilts 03-11-2011 12:08 PM

I think just orange for the binding sounds like a great idea.

SharonAnne 03-11-2011 12:09 PM

IMHO - I like the quilt "as is" without the orange border. Seems like the wide orange border is all I see on the second photo and it takes my eye away from the beauty of the quilt (which btw, looks like 3D in pic #1). I would use the orange as a binding, however, but either the orange or the purple would be good for binding.

rootyr 03-11-2011 12:10 PM

I like it the way it is!

katiescraftshop 03-11-2011 12:11 PM

I think the orange binding would be a nice touch. Don't think it needs anything else.

The quilt is 3-D. The orange triangles are prairie points!

No orange border, just orange binding. :-)

IMHO, don't put on the organge border. if it were mine, I think I would bind it in green-the orange is sufficient in the body of it-in facat, I think I would make a green scrappy binding using left over greens from the quilt. It is a cracker of a quilt!!

cjomomma 03-11-2011 12:17 PM

I agree with everyone else. No orange border.

I agree!!

Jennalyn 03-11-2011 12:20 PM

I'll add my vote to the "no orange border" group. It looks absolutely lovely as-is and I think the purple frames it beautifully.

bj 03-11-2011 12:34 PM

I'm agreeing here. I think orange binding, no more borders. It's lovely as it is! And bright and playful!

katier825 03-11-2011 12:34 PM

I think it looks better without the orange border. I think using the orange for the binding would look great!

Great quilt by the way!

kayquilt 03-11-2011 12:35 PM

I would like to see it with a purple binding. It makes a nice frame.

ann clare 03-11-2011 12:36 PM

Love it as it is.

KiwiQuilter 03-11-2011 12:37 PM

I would use the orange for binding. I don't think it needs another border.

Wow! This has to be a first for here! Everyone agrees! (so far) It is funny, but all along I was planning on the orange border.... until I had all of the purple borders on. Then I really liked it that way, without the orange border.

Since for now, we have a consensus - NO orange border!

I agree with this. By the way, lovely quilt! :)

crafty_linda_b 03-11-2011 12:44 PM

I vote for the orange binding too...just a thin binding...not too wide or it will be overpowering as the others have said...
It is very striking..I love your colors!!

I like it without the orange border - if you really need the orange on the outside edge, use it as binding

Jingle 03-11-2011 01:13 PM

I think the orange would look very nice. It would be my choice if I were making it.

Nolee 03-11-2011 01:25 PM

Definitely "as is" for my taste, but it all depends on what YOU like best. :) For binding, maybe, but not as another border. It takes FROM the quilt.

me too

ccb2200 03-11-2011 01:32 PM

It is very pretty without the orange. I would just use the orange as a binding. Very pretty quilt.

stacey65 03-11-2011 01:33 PM

with out the extra border would look awsome orange for binding..

hobo2000 03-11-2011 01:59 PM

I agree.

That's exactly what I was going to say!

milp04 03-11-2011 02:14 PM

Great quilt.

I like it as is, without the orange border. I would do the binding to match the purple, not in the orange.

You already have the borders on, but if not, you could've put a very small piping border in the orange at the outer edge of the print and the purple. But it looks great just as it is. Something to think about for future projects.

Like it w/o the added border. The orange binding would look good IMHO.

mtspools 03-11-2011 03:01 PM

I agree no boarder.

gal288 03-11-2011 03:10 PM

Just orange binding,, border is overpowering.

bgullett 03-11-2011 03:11 PM

I think it is beautiful without the orange border. Looks completed. I love it.

d.rickman 03-11-2011 03:12 PM

What a stunning quilt!! I would suggest the orange is a very vibrant - strong color and could be somewhat overpowering, if you add another border in this orange it takes away the beauty of your quilt - like the other ladies suggest, a small binding in green or orange would work better in this case..Best Luck and thanks for sharing.

Joanie2 03-11-2011 03:38 PM

I agree with Katie -- leave the bright border off and use it for the binding. It will add to the punch but not be overpowering. Nice quilt.

Ditter43 03-11-2011 03:42 PM

I would use the orange for the binding! Beautiful quilt!! :D

SueDor 03-11-2011 03:47 PM

No orange border in my opinion!

kim_s 03-11-2011 03:59 PM

Great quilt top. Like it without the added border.
