Wow!!!! that is perfect for a 16 year old. Sorry I can't help you with the other side

Love it! It could be just blocks of color... or maybe scrappy strips of left over from the front if you have enough and just add some. Good Luck

This is an adorable quilt, and one she'll love for years.

One thing, is this an applique quilt or did you buy the blocks
already made up?

I've been fascinated with shoes for a long time, and one of my
daughters pointed out it started when I broke my ankle and
could not wear shoes on that foot for a long time. I had a lot of
trouble finding shoes that were comfortable.....

Beautiful. Your granddaughter is a lucky girl.

Very nice. She's sure to love it.

Love, love, love it!! Congrats on the seam ripperless quilt top! (if it were me..I'd mark my calendar about that!) I struggle trying to line up things when I'm sandwiching quilts..but I'd use Holice's method if it were me. Sounded like good advice.

I bought the shoe fabric in a panel (bought 2 panels) and cut them apart and put sashing between the blocks. It didn't come out quite a big as I want it though so I am now working on doing a "piano key" border using colors that are in the shoes so it doesn't look like an add on. Will post pics when that's done.

I found the shoe panel of fabric in a LOVELY LQS in Hadley, Mich. The gal told me she has had the fabric for over a year and it wasn't until they hung a panel on her wall that it started selling like hotcakes. If you are interested, PM me and I might be able to get some for you. She had a few panels left. I think it was $8.99 a panel.

Your quilt is very impressive. The colors are fantastic. I would never have guessed that she is into high heels. You found a great pattern. I'm sure she will be forever thankful.

You quilt is absolutely adorable. I used to work with a gal that wore the highest heels - made my feet hurt just to look at her shoes! I love looking at high heels - but can't do them! Your GD is a lucky girl!

Gerbie 06-08-2010 07:11 PM

I think I would baste them together myself, and then quilt. That would be extra work but worth it later.

mom2boys 06-08-2010 07:25 PM

Sorry can't help you either but I love this fabric, where could we find it?

canmitch1971 06-08-2010 07:26 PM

Perfect!

mistress4taz 06-09-2010 08:13 AM

WOW!!! That quilt is awsome. I have a horrible time "reading" a pattern. I learn best by 'show and try' or examples. I would love to make this same quilt as great as you did.

JCL in FL 06-09-2010 06:51 PM

That is just too cute. Show some close ups of the shoes.
