Oh my.... I am SOOOO proud of my self! I actually made a quilt top WITHOUT having to tear out and restitch ANYTHING! LOL That is definately a first!
I am attempting to make, for the first time, a truly reversible quilt with 2 totally different designs on each side. This photo shows the first side. Now I am working on a "string" quilt using only 2 shades of purple as that is my granddaughter's favorite color. The blocks are going together really well so far. The only challenge I see is how to get them lined up correctly when I sandwich them for quilting.... any suggestions?

Fantastic quilt!!!!!!!!!! My sister (who's a LOT older than 16 but still a shoe freak) would love it :D:D:D
Great job, thanks for sharing!!

Pam 06-06-2010 09:30 AM

Very cute! I guess the best way to line them up is to fold into quarters and press both front and back, line up.

I would think that extra wide borders should be called for in case there has to be a little more trimming than originally planned for.

ToucanSam 06-06-2010 09:31 AM

That looks GREAT! She'll love it! :)

kso 06-06-2010 09:33 AM

Great pattern! Where did you get it?

Love2Craft 06-06-2010 09:34 AM

Where did you get the high heeled shoe fabric??? Too cute!!!

MissyGirl 06-06-2010 09:35 AM

I love those heels!! Beautiful!

annieshane 06-06-2010 09:42 AM

I agree, need more information about the high heels fabrics.

Panda 06-06-2010 09:59 AM

Sorry, no suggestions on the "line up" but what a cute top!

sharon b 06-06-2010 10:11 AM

She is going to LOVE it  Can't wait to see the back also

I have never tried to match front to back so no real suggestions . It would be a pain but maybe put a pin down thru the front and match it up with the back ? Does that make sense ?

Do you know how you are going to quilt it ? Another thought is don't try to match up the front squares with the back , intentionally off set them.

belmer 06-06-2010 10:19 AM

Wonderful quilt.... love the high heels. Great Idea for a young gal.

craftybear 06-06-2010 10:24 AM

sorry no idea about the line up, hope someone can help you

Holice 06-06-2010 10:45 AM

Are the blocks on the back going to be the same size as those on the front? If so, I would sandwich the three layers together and then fold down the top to the half way seam and alighn with the matching seam on the back piece then secure with pins. then fold to the next cross seam line and do the same etc etc etc. And then do the same for the other side.
If the blocks are not the same you can still do the same by marking these alighnment points on the back one.

Holice 06-06-2010 10:46 AM

i meant that to be fold down the other end and do the same

saf45 06-06-2010 10:46 AM

Looks great!!!

bj 06-06-2010 02:15 PM

If you know how to meander (and I don't :-) ) it might not matter if they line up perfectly. Good luck, though, because that is one adorable, beautiful quilt!

sweet 06-06-2010 02:28 PM

Gotta love it when everything falls into place! Hurry and get a lotto!

CarrieAnne 06-06-2010 02:32 PM

Oh, thats adorable!

LindaM 06-06-2010 02:41 PM

SWEET! Wonderful quilt, love all the heels!

How on earth does one put a whole top together without reverse sewing??! - that's not even on my radar. Way to go, good luck with the reverse side - will be totally wonderful.

littlehud 06-06-2010 03:24 PM

What a great quilt. It sounds like it will be perfect for her.

franie 06-06-2010 05:17 PM

Beautiful quilt! Love the fabric!

dkabasketlady 06-06-2010 05:39 PM

Beautiful quilt top & I can't wait to see the back of the quilt! I don't think I's try to line up tht front with the back because when you start to quilt it you'll have all those seams to go over. If you do make the blocks line up follow Holice's advice that's how I'd do it!! Good luck 7 post pics when it's finished!
Perfect quilt for a 16 yr.old!!
