You did a great job! It's going to look even better after you wash it a couple of times. I think it's adorable. The cats are so cute!

red-warrior 09-13-2016 05:30 AM

I agree it looks great and will be loved by the recipient! Have a great day and listen to your quilt buddies and love your finished quilt!

marshaKay 09-13-2016 05:31 AM

I love, love, love your kitty quilt. The quilting stitch is awesome too! Reminds me of the kitties playing with yarn, all over the place...... Wash it, watch if crinkle, gently, and enjoy it. You did a marvelous job. I'd be proud to have that quilt in my home!

carolynjo 09-13-2016 07:37 AM

It looks fine! No one but you will see the quilting; they will love the effect of the quilting, but they won't notice the loops, particularly. Just relax and enjoy that gorgeous fabric and those whimsical cats!

waltonalice 09-13-2016 08:00 AM

Your design and colors are beautiful and the quilt pattern is lovely. I like the color thread, because it pulls all the colors together.

klswift 09-13-2016 08:16 AM

the first thing that came into my head was the 'cats are dancing''. The quilting makes is seem like they are light and airy. We must stop being so hard on ourselves. You have made a very nice and very happy quilt. Go pat yourself on the back and enjoy it!

vicki reno 09-13-2016 08:27 AM

It looks fine to me. I am always very crticalofmy own work and I suspect the same is true for you. The recipient will love it just because you took the time to do it.

lue 09-13-2016 08:54 AM

Love the quilt. I don't know why you think is wrong with it. Is it a crazy log cabin pattern? LOVE IT!

Clarice29 09-13-2016 11:15 AM

Looks fine to me. Rather cute.

RosaSharon 09-13-2016 11:56 AM

This quilt is great. Either you avoided quilting over the cat's faces, or I can't see any quilting on their faces, which means you did a perfect job of quilting with the perfect color thread. Congratulations!!

The same thing has happened to me. I was disappointed with one of my finishewd quilts. It wasn't how I imagined it turning out. Put it away for several months to "season". Imagine my surprise when I took it out and liked it! I think that I built up how awful that quilt was in my mind and was pleasantly surprised at how much better it looked with the passage of time!

MarleneC 09-13-2016 07:03 PM

I like this--the loops break up the square blocks and the color of the thread is fine and shows how nicely to did those. Anyone should love receiving this for a cozy quilt.

Kris P 09-14-2016 03:23 AM

I love your quilt. The quilting suits the fabrics. Don't beat yourself up over it. I often chicken out and use thread that blends in too much and regret that the quilting doesn't show up enough. I bet once this quilt is washed and dried, the thread color will be less noticeable. Your quilting stitches look great, and your loops are very uniform.

I was going to say this too. I'm OFTEN not happy with my quilting but after I wash the quilt it all crinkles up so nicely! Your quilt really does look great! It does.

Debd 09-14-2016 05:26 AM

I think it looks great! If it really bothers you, wash the quilt! The depending on the type of batting you used, you may find that the quilting lines disappear as the quilt "fluffs" out. I love the look of this quilt and think you will like it with time too. Take a step back, give it a wash, and admire the results!

Texas_Sue 09-14-2016 05:34 AM

You have done an awesome job - the quilting is very nice indeed. I really love your quilt and the quilting. Good job!

bibi 09-14-2016 06:26 AM

It's perfect! Enjoy your gorgeous quilt.

llong0233 09-14-2016 10:43 AM

Hey, wait a minute...this is a great looking quilt. There are so many vibrant colors in the fabric I don't know if there could be a "wrong" color thread. It looks great and you should be proud of you work.

Great advice. I like your quilt but its your opinion that is the one that matters. If you still dislike the quilting after putting it away for awhile and are willing to unstitch it then do it. I have taken apart items because I didn't like them (everyone else liked them) and guess what ... I like the new versions better. It is really about what makes you happy.

I agree, with everyone else. The quilt looks great. The quilting doesn't look out of place or the wrong color. It enhances the quilt and you did a wonderful job. It is done and not sitting in a closet waiting to be quilted. Hurray! As someone else said, "we are our worst critics." If you really don't like the quilting or the thread color, remember when it gets washed the quilting will meld into the quilt and won't be so noticeable. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with the color thread you used. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

By the way, I often feel this way too, when I finish a quilt. I'll pick out something that I am not satisfied with and obsess about it. I'll put it away for a while (usually in disgust, LOL) and then when I see it again sometime later, what I thought was so terrible and stuck out like a sore thumb, suddenly I don't even notice anymore. I put this down with working with it so closely and wanting everything to be so perfect, that I pick it to death. When in actuality, there is nothing wrong with it at all.

luana 09-14-2016 02:10 PM

Briskgo, for what it's worth, here are my thoughts. I do a lot of my own quilting, and I always think it's not as good as a "pro". So I know where you are coming from. BUT, your quilt is wonderful, just the way it is! You do not have to make any excuses. The quilt is fun and happy, and so is your quilting. Nothing about the pattern says the quilting should be perfect. The quilting police should get off their horses and stop to admire your fine work.

Divokittysmom 09-14-2016 03:43 PM

My dear briskgo, if I could quilt like that I would be bustin' me buttons! lol Your quilt is just lovely! You can be proud to say you did it all yourself!!

Jeanette Frantz 09-14-2016 07:17 PM

We are ALMOST ALWAYS our own worst critic! Good work, good quilting. The best I can do by machine is SITD!

Looks great,

Don't be too discouraged. Choosing the quilting is one of the hardest things for me, too. It looks great to me. The quilt is not ruined by any stretch.

Pennyhal 09-16-2016 11:12 AM

I like the loops you used! The thread color really does work well on this quilt. Great looking quilt!

Taughtby Grandma 09-21-2016 02:27 PM

I can see the challenge you had for the color of thread for quilting with the dark blocks and light fabric you used to set it together. I like the quilt and with the design in the fabric, using the dark thread for quilting adds to it.

margied 09-21-2016 03:39 PM

it looks great. You see things that nobody else notices - be happy with it.

briskgo 09-24-2016 05:44 AM

I haven't been able to log on for about a week. Just wanted to thank everyone for the encouragement I put it away and I'll pull it out later, that is good advice. Besides can't blame the quilt now can I.

A great quilt! I see nothing wrong with the choice of thread color or quilting. The fabrics, thread and quilting make it look playful.
