Wrong Quilting

2 Attachment(s)
Just broke my own heart, loved everything about this one until I quilted it. Wrong color thread, and wrong design. Should have either spent the money for a pro or spent the money on yellow backing and thread.

What a fun quilts. I think you did a terrific job on it & from what I can see, the thread color and design is just fine. Don't beat yourself up over this....no one else will. It will be a loved quilt.

briskgo 09-12-2016 06:53 AM

thanks it helped just writing it down you are a dear

QuiltingVagabond 09-12-2016 07:13 AM

I think it looks fine - sometimes we are our own worst critics.

mandyrose 09-12-2016 07:19 AM

i think it looks great i like the fabrics

BrendaK 09-12-2016 07:20 AM

I think that you have done a super job on all aspects of this quilt. Love it as I am sure that whoever ends up with it will. Kool quilt. BrendaK

love cats and cat quilts. and the fabric is terrific! What seems to be the problem with it?? All i see is a great quilt of cats and nice quilting too. Be proud of what you did. I love it.

Diannia 09-12-2016 09:24 AM

I think it looks fine too! I was excited to see it because I need to quilt something a church lady asked me to quilt for her several years ago. I put it away because I wanted to do straight lines on it but am not skilled enough to do that. I like your loops and will probably do that instead!

quiltingcandy 09-12-2016 09:26 AM

I'm with the others - looks good to me. If you had used yellow you wouldn't see the quilting. I bet is you put it away for a while and get it back out you will be able to see how good it looks. You are just too close to it right now.

MaryKatherine 09-12-2016 09:31 AM

I see nothing wrong with it! I like the way you avoided the centre of the blocks!

oklahomamom2 09-12-2016 09:44 AM

Colorful quilt

marilynr 09-12-2016 09:49 AM

Love your quilt. Only you see what you mentioned. We only see a beautiful quilt.

YC Quilter 09-12-2016 10:20 AM

Looks great to me!

Mariposa 09-12-2016 10:57 AM

Kudos on a great finish! Fun fabrics, and nice quilting too. Don't be so hard on yourself. :)

PaperPrincess 09-12-2016 11:01 AM

I think it looks just wonderful! I think we are our own worst enemies!

K-Roll 09-12-2016 11:36 AM

I know the feeling...it doesn't match the vision you had. Well it matches another vision, it's beautiful.

Tweety2911 09-12-2016 11:37 AM

It's a fun, beautiful quilt and the thread color is fine as is the quilting. If you are still truly unhappy with your quilting try washing the quilt which makes it crinkly and makes the quilting look better (at least it does for me) :).

sewbizgirl 09-12-2016 11:52 AM

Very cute! The quilting is whimsical, just like the Laurel Burch cats. If you hadn't used the darker color that quilting wouldn't have shown up at all... except on the cats where is looks better blending in as it does. I think you did really well in your choices.

cashs_mom 09-12-2016 01:18 PM

I think it looks great. I totally agree. We are our own worst critics sometimes.

Cam's gram 09-12-2016 02:27 PM

We are each our own worst critic! Your quilt is adorable!

Bluebonnets 09-12-2016 02:35 PM

Oh, now I like it! See nothing wrong

I've consulted the quilting police, and they said,"If you can't see it from a mile away, when riding a galloping horse, it doesn't exist!" On that basis,, you are fine. I personally, think it is a wonderful quilt, with marvelous colors and happy cats. You should be proud.

lots2do 09-12-2016 03:25 PM

I don't see a thing wrong with it. I like the way it looks like the cats are peering out of wonky windows. But, you have the right to tell yourself you've learned something from this quilt about your own preferences. I'm working on a learning quilt right now.

QM 09-12-2016 04:59 PM

I love it. Give yourself a break. Early in my quilting career, I decided not to show a quilt because it was so imperfect. DH pushed me to enter it in the local quilt show. It took a blue ribbon. We really are our own worst critics.

BonnieI 09-12-2016 05:06 PM

It's a great quilt.

Dina 09-12-2016 07:03 PM

You are too hard on yourself! It looks great. I love cat quilts, and yours is a beauty!

I am in the group that thinks it looks fine....both the thread and the quilting. Put that binding on it and call it finished and you will like it better.

Lilrain 09-12-2016 10:20 PM

Sometimes we are too hard on ourselves. Everyone here likes it!

Teddybear Lady 09-12-2016 11:04 PM

It looks great to me.

twinkie 09-13-2016 02:30 AM

Don't be so hard on yourself. Many times I will look at a finished quilt and say, "I wish I had done this or that instead of doing that or this. It turned out fine.

Skhf 09-13-2016 03:01 AM

you should be proud. It is a great quilt and you did it! I bet anything that your lady group of quilting was better than the first group. Practice makes perfect😊

Homespun 09-13-2016 03:39 AM

It looks just fine. Stop beating yourself up!

ka9sdn 09-13-2016 03:45 AM

I like the fact you see the quilting in the sashing and not so much in the main fabric. It lets your fabric speak. Keep on quilting.

tessagin 09-13-2016 03:50 AM

I totally agree with everyone else! I think it looks great and it's adorable and I'd like to know where you got that fabric!!!!!!! Want want want!! Please!!

institches33 09-13-2016 04:04 AM

In my humble opinion...I think it looks GREAT! The thread color appears to be part of the background fabric. Had you used yellow it may have spoiled the Laurel Birch blocks. Nice!

tessagin 09-13-2016 04:08 AM

Found the line for the fabric. Now can't make up my mind!! LOL!

elly66 09-13-2016 04:13 AM

I'm sorry you dislike the quilting. I think the way you quilted it really brings out the cats. It's very cute. Can you put it away for a time (several weeks) then look at it. That sometimes works for me when I don't like a quilt. Literally stepping back from it.

justflyingin 09-13-2016 04:17 AM

Like someone else mentioned...put it away for a while and then look at it again later. You'll be surprised how much you like it then!

Looks great--whimsical, fun. Is it a gift or for yourself?

lovelyl 09-13-2016 04:29 AM

I see a beautiful, colorful quilt that I would love to snuggle under! Your choices in quilt design and thread look fine to me!
