Is it wrong?

To want to keep something that was meant to be given away. I made myself a goal to use all my rulers at least once (yes, I know it's an obsession with gadgets that got me into this). Anyhow this was the 60 degree ruler and it was supposed to be for the newest nephew, but.....

Quilty-Louise 06-18-2016 10:04 AM

Why not make a second one for you?

Just a thought. But I can see why you would want to\
keep this quilt it's AWESOME!

PaperPrincess 06-18-2016 10:10 AM

wow! Do I like that. I agree with Quilty-Louise. Make another one and keep whichever you prefer.
My sister will often admire something in my home only to be told 'well, I bought that for you for Christmas last year, but when I got it home...'. Must run in the family as she does the same to me.

Tartan 06-18-2016 11:53 AM

Keep it for yourself and make another for your nephew. If you say you will make yourself one later, you probably won't

tessagin 06-18-2016 12:34 PM

Hurry and make him another one!

ckcowl 06-18-2016 12:42 PM

Happens all the time. , if you love it, want to keep it do so. Then make a different quilt for the nephew. He will never know. I have one neice who waited ( unknowingly) for 5 quilts before receiving hers. She loves, loves, loves the one that finally became hers.

QM 06-18-2016 12:50 PM

Great quilt! Yes, make another for your nephew.

SHELTIE'SMAMA 06-18-2016 01:09 PM

That is super attractive, I can see why you need one for yourself.

RedGarnet222 06-18-2016 01:29 PM

I can see why you would want to keep it for yourself. It is very nice with great colors. I think some of my ufo's are still waiting to be finished for that exact reason. I don't really want to give them up. Terrible isn't it?

I know a retired quilt teacher that must have fifty completed quilts. I kid you not!

suern3 06-18-2016 01:49 PM

It's a beautiful quilt and it is speaking to you! Keep it and enjoy. Your newest nephew will enjoy another quilt you make him just as much:)

redquilter 06-18-2016 02:27 PM

Keep it! There's no right or wrong rules in quilting! LOL! Make another for your nephew.

Kathy T. 06-18-2016 03:16 PM

Hey! You can't help falling in love ...
Make another one in different colors.

QUILTNMO 06-18-2016 03:44 PM

very nice but I would make me one great colors!!!

Merrylin 06-18-2016 06:06 PM

We quilters give so many of our quilts away that when one especially speaks to us we should keep it. But make another one for your nephew.

Totally agree. Make a different quilt for your nephew.

Monika 06-18-2016 07:27 PM

love that!

Jane Quilter 06-18-2016 07:32 PM

keep it. No regrets. No apologies. If you are time constrained, go get a cheater cloth like the vintage winnie the pooh showing in the forum. PS...I can see why you love it...the yellow triangle twinkles at you.

^^^^^^^^^^ I agree with this.

Cookie46 06-18-2016 08:05 PM

This is an awesome quilt!

sewbizgirl 06-18-2016 08:11 PM

We do get so attached to some quilts, don't we? Better to keep it than to regret giving it away later. The baby won't care if he gets something else for his gift.

greaterexp 06-18-2016 09:08 PM

Whoever the recipient is, it's a great quilt!

DOTTYMO 06-18-2016 10:09 PM

Keep it and make either the same pattern again or another quilt using a different ruler.

QM 06-19-2016 01:05 AM

I have been thinking more on this. You made it, it is still yours. I think it would be wrong if you gave a significantly less good quilt instead. I tell my grands that a quilt is a hug you can carry with you. Make another but be sure it is a real hug for the new one.

ManiacQuilter2 06-19-2016 04:25 AM

If you like it that much, keep it and make another one for your nephew!

Gail B 06-19-2016 05:57 AM

I agree, keep it for yourself & make your nephew another one.

Jordan 06-19-2016 10:48 AM

If you like it so much--- you need to keep it and no one will ever know it was meant for someone else.!!! Maybe you would like to make another one just like it.

twinkie 06-20-2016 03:24 AM

That is a great looking qult. I can see why you want to keep it. I see a second one in the near future.

katesnanna 06-20-2016 03:32 AM

Until you gift a quilt it belongs to you. So if you want to keep it go ahead. BTW it's a very striking quilt

SheriR 06-20-2016 03:55 AM

its super cute! I can see why you want to keep it. I often have the same problem with quilts I make specifically for something. I'm going against the majority here though and saying....let it go.

Friday1961 06-20-2016 04:38 AM

Love your quilt! Reminds me of mountain ranges! And I agree: keep it, and make another for your nephew.

dinlauren 06-20-2016 04:42 AM

Great quilt! I'd keep it! Then you will be more motivated to make one for your nephew. I love the blues and white together. They are always a winning team

Yooper32 06-20-2016 06:06 AM

I wouldn't be able to part with it. It is stark, unique and eye-catching, not to mention, totally different from anything I have seen.

jamsbuying 06-20-2016 06:30 AM

Love it too and can see why you want to keep it!

I agree with everyone. Maybe do different colors and decide which you like better, then give the other away.

maryellen2u 06-20-2016 06:11 PM

I say keep and make him another one. He will never know the difference and probably won't care. Since he's the newest maybe he'll wait!

heather1949 06-20-2016 08:41 PM

That is beautiful :)

oldquilter 06-21-2016 04:40 AM

I want to keep every quilt I ever make, plus those tops I quilt for someone else. As others have said, quick make one for yourself. I donated my favorite quilt of all time for an auction, still haven't made it again.

kaylfordsollimo 06-21-2016 08:38 PM

Who says you can't make more than one? I like it, too.

mjhaess 06-26-2016 05:56 PM

Love that blue....

quiltmouse 06-27-2016 02:05 PM

I love your "eye". That is a very dynamic quilt. I see why you want one for yourself.
