"X" Rated Quilting Fun!
2 Attachment(s)
I LOVE making X-Blocks quilts. You start with simple piecing such as a strip set or nine patch, then cut with the X-Blocks ruler to make the magic.
This pattern is called 'Thornton' and is a little more challenging than some of the simpler patterns, but it still wasn't difficult. You first make a small block using the BellyButton ruler. That becomes the center of the larger X-block, which uses a partial seam technique. The leftovers get made into the table runner and a few placemats (I don't have photos of the placemats yet.) Hope you enjoy looking. |
Wow! I'm taking an X block class tomorrow and I like yours much better than the sample I saw. Could be a technique thing, but probably color choices are what make the difference. I like my colors - all strips cut and ready to go, so hope it turns out as nice as yours!

this is still on my to do list. What was your color placement before re-cutting? I've had the ruler maybe 3 or 4 years now? Guess I'll have to live to 100!!

I was looking for a metal wallhanging hanger in my drawer full of templets and ran across my two X Block rulers and three patterns today. I thought to myself, I need to play with these! I love the look and yours came out great!
