I have been trying to do a quilt like this (I think it's called the lone star) and never could get the 45 degree angle and the y seams correct. Then came across Debbie Maddy patterens. It's made with HST. I think I'll keep this one..
thanks for looking:):)

Very nicely done.

PaperPrincess 02-12-2015 03:36 PM

Really nice quilt. HSTs? I'm going to have to track down that pattern.

hoprigmom 02-12-2015 03:55 PM

Gorgeous quilt! It is hard to believe that you could do it with HSTs. I will have to take a look at that pattern line. Thanks for sharing.

jeanne49 02-12-2015 04:15 PM

It's beautiful - brave lady, I don't have the nerve to start one of these things

QuiltnNan 02-12-2015 04:23 PM

gramajo 02-12-2015 04:46 PM

Very pretty quilt. Congratulations to you on finding a pattern that didn't require set=in seams.

faykilgore 02-12-2015 07:58 PM

Excellent use of color and movement! Good job!

grammyto2 02-12-2015 09:07 PM

Good job, I have not heard of making a lone star that way. I have done many lone star quilts, and with the strip piecing they are easier than you think. Don't be afraid, dive right in.

QM 02-12-2015 11:56 PM

Very well done.

BETTY62 02-13-2015 12:29 AM

I love your quilt. Someday I hope to have the skills needed to make one that I would not be ashamed to display. For now I can only dream. LOL

quiltingcandy 02-13-2015 01:52 AM

Thank you all so much.. the web site is www.calicocarriage.com she has a lot to star patterns and the are done in HST.

Ariannaquilts 02-13-2015 06:10 AM

My sister wanted one of these years ago so I opted to do what you did by making it with the hst, only difference was mine was not a star in a square like yours, it just went out from the star using the hst. Even though I felt like I cheated back then it was still an accomplishment, so be proud of your quilt it's still a lot of work.

IrishgalfromNJ 02-13-2015 06:15 AM

It's a beautiful quilt. I'm so glad you found that pattern. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Homespun 02-13-2015 06:49 AM

Lovely!!!!

quiltstringz 02-13-2015 07:32 AM

Great job! I love her patterns, she has a broken lone star also along with a lot of others and they are all done with HSTs no set in seams

Sneed 02-13-2015 08:25 AM

You sure did do it!! Looks just perfect. What's next?

busy fingers 02-13-2015 11:52 AM

Just lovely.

That would look so welcoming on a wall if you wanted to display it rather than on a bed.

SusanSusan33 02-13-2015 12:39 PM

Wow!! That's gorgeous! You definitely nailed it!

copycat 02-14-2015 03:32 AM

Great job accomplishing your goal of making this star quilt. I think it looks great on that wall space in your quilting room. I guess you would have to give up your flannel wall.:)

jmoore 02-14-2015 05:10 AM

wow, awesome job... you should be proud (and relieved). : )

annette1952 02-14-2015 10:25 AM

It's great. Love it!

MargeD 02-14-2015 01:39 PM

I'd keep that one too, it's beautiful. I have seen the HST method on a quilting show and it looks so much easier, and your results are great, you should be proud.

Caswews 02-14-2015 09:01 PM
