This year's student bookmarks!
6 Attachment(s)
Each is made--as much as possible--with the student's favorite sport/animal/season/hobby. At least that gives me enough to go on to fit some of their favs into each. There are many lacrosse players this year, but I have yet to find cute lacrosse fabric. I was thrilled to find some fish and wolves on some leftover pillowcase material.
Kids are done the 21st of June, so I'll give them away the last week. I think I'll get each a little bag with goodies bubbles, candy, pencil) and this will be included. The photos are group 1--then the backs, group 2, then backs, group 3, then backs. (Gosh! I had to sign back in twice while preparing this post. What is up with that?) |
Sew nice of you to think of the kids each year. I'm sure they will remember you for years to come.

Great bookmarks!!! Your students will love them.
Your bookmarks are super! I like how you personalized them to each student with fabrics to suit them. Your little gromnets(sp) are neat, do the apply well to fabric?
What a great idea!! I hope it encourages them to read over the summer!
That says alot about you as a person and as a teacher that you took the time, money, and effort to do this. The kids were blessed to have you. That being said, the bookmarks LOOK great, too!!
Looks like this is a tradition that you'll have to continue as long as you teach at that school. :)
They look wonderful. What did you use inside? I think this call for a tutorial. Please.
That is such a nice thing to do and a great idea!
What a cool gift to give to students!! You did a great job. :)
They look great. The kids will enjoy them as a reminder of their great teacher. Sandy 64

That is so considerate of you! Love the bookmarks!!
Great gift for kiddies and such wonderful fabrics!
Wonderful idea!
Wonderful idea, and so individually beautiful! I'm curious, what grade are the kids? The thing about a bookmark, is that it makes you want to read a book to use it. How clever to give a gift that will keep on giving to the kids.

I've been giving these for 3-4 years now, but usually in December with two new books each. I had too much going on to do that this year, but they still got the books. This is better timing. Moms of former students say their kids use these years after finishing 5th grade. :-) |
What a great thing that you do. Fabric is great in that there is one just right for just about anyone.
Those are just too precious.

I taught fifth grade for many years. I'm now retired but I have 10 grandkids with a great grandchild on the way. Two of my granddaughters are going into teaching. One already has her masters and is teaching Autistic children. The other one is specializing in Early Childhood Ed. and Special Ed. I like to make things for the younger grandkids, and also for them to give to their classmates on special occasions. Last Valentine's Day, I made personalized embroidered Valentines for my youngest GD's classmates and her teachers. Would you be willing to tell us how you made these? They are great! I certainly agree that encouraging children to read is very important. These would also be great for the GDs to give to their classes.

Great job--what a thoughtful gift!
Awesome idea! Hope they make a difference. Reading is soooo important.

Those are very nice! Sometimes it's hard to find prints that are small enough to use, you did a great job.
I have always been impressed by your generosity and kindness in preparing these bookmarks year after year.
You are amazing. Kirsten |
These look great (as they always have, at least for as long as you have been posting them).
Do you have the kids do a little writing assignment about their favorite things so you know what they are or do you keep notes when they bring something up in general conversation? |
These bookmarks are so cute! It must take a lot of time to do--I hope your students enjoy them.
