Top completed for yellow brick road. Now I have to get backing. Had 1 metre of Ricky Timms hand dyed fabric and some fat eights of batiks and hand dyed fabrics. Scrappy version. I am happy with the results. Thanks to all on this board for their help.
Large boxes. I used 2 1/2" strips for this quilt. Last August decided to use up my stash and only buy when necessary. I had part of a jelly roll.
Small boxes. Same as above except I trimmed four patch centre squares to 4" by accident instead of 4 1/2". Was working on a few project at the time.

I really like all your quilts. The scrappy quilts are such fun and always look great. I'm also using up my scraps instead of buying more fabric...financial constraints.

Thanks for sharing.

Cute Cute Cute!

I'm trying to use up stash - but I'm running into a problem.

I'm not using it faster than I'm acquiring it!

Love the ybr quilt; i have made several of these and it's one of my favorite patterns. I am also in the process of making a quilt like your squares boxes. It's all out of batik f/q's i have been collecting. It's going to be a fairly large quilt. I've had to put it aside for now as i am working on some other quilts that take priority over mine. Now that I've seen yours, I really want to start on mine again. Can hardly wait to finish it. BTW, I love yours.

kso 05-17-2010 09:03 PM

I like 1 and 2 best. Never have seen these patterns before.

Well, there are about 4 different blocks. There is a company called Atkinson Design that came up with that design, the instructions are well done and the whole thing is made out of fat quarters. Even a new GUY could make one. Ask me how I know. (look it up on the Web)

Our own Patrice made up a similar (but NOT exact) pattern for something like YBR. You might ask her for instructions.

It is a nice pattern for starters. And avatars.

I did not have a pattern. There is a pattern called boxed squares or pandoras box. I used 2 1/2" strips. Did a four patch with 2 1/2" squares using 2 light and 2 dark squares. Trim them to 4 1/2" squares. Add 2 1/2" strips to top and bottom and lastly sides.
