I like the pink dots on black. I like the dramatic look of the quilt and the simple lines of it which doesn't make that pretty floral work for this project.

Grandma Peg 03-24-2011 06:39 AM

Beautiful quilt.

Baloonatic 03-24-2011 06:51 AM

The floral is pretty! Would adding a 2-4" wide black inner border with the floral as a second outside border work? It would separate the pinks in the two fabrics.

darlin121 03-24-2011 06:56 AM

I like the idea of using the dot fabric. I think either the dots or a solid pink

lisalovesquilting 03-24-2011 06:58 AM

It looks good in the picture. Beautiful quilt.

hatchet 03-24-2011 07:02 AM

If this was my quilt, I would put black ribbon for the binding and sew some bows in the lighter colored squares.

playswithcolor 03-24-2011 07:07 AM

I think I would try the black & pink pokkadot as the border. Keep the geometric modern look going. The floral border sabotages the look

Save the floral for backing another quilt.

BJ SewKkrazzy 03-24-2011 07:59 AM

I do like it...and I like quilts backed with flannel...so warm and cozy!!!!

jdeery 03-24-2011 08:22 AM

I love the floral, but not for a border, nice maybe for the backing.

Nice quilt, she'll treasure it for years, since she had a hand in picking colors.

I agree. I think a solid color would really work.

penski 03-24-2011 08:30 AM

i dont think the border would compliment the quilt top

Matilda 03-24-2011 10:07 AM

Very pretty!

the floral dose not go with the rest of the quilt. The advantage to having a stash is for future use. You will use it in a future quilt, so save it for now.

Ziva 03-24-2011 10:18 AM

I like the dots as a border or if you have othersolid fabric left over combine into the border with the dots.

RuthFru 03-24-2011 11:35 AM

I wouldn't use the floral, if you have any more of the black with pink dot I think that would look nice. As for the back, I think a gray would be nice.

rosalyne 03-24-2011 11:58 AM

You could just bind it. Wow so pretty.

Central Ohio Quilter 03-24-2011 12:24 PM

I would add a narrow border of the grey from your quilt, THEN do a wider border of one of the dots, either pink or black. The grey will separate the black of the quilt blocks from the black of the border do they don't run together.

Beautiful quilt!

bjr 03-24-2011 01:10 PM

If you want to make it bigger, maybe a 2" gray border, followed by a black/pink piano key border.

debbieoh 03-24-2011 02:22 PM

Love the floral fabric but not for this quilt

bjcombs2022 03-24-2011 02:28 PM

I love black and pink together! I think the dots would look great!

Gabbystabber 03-24-2011 02:33 PM

I vote for a pink and black stripe. Quilt is wonderful

Lilrain 03-24-2011 02:36 PM

it is nice fabric but is a bit too busy for this quilt.

That was my though also.

I don't have anymore of the brite pink sashing. but have more of the dots.

I think the dots would be a much better choice.

Iamquilter 03-24-2011 04:38 PM

Love your quilt, but if it were mine I wouldn't use the floral. As others suggested either black, pink or the dots.

Tawnya's Mom 03-24-2011 06:16 PM

I think I would use a small border of a light pink and a bigger border of the black dots. I love dots. However, your quilt could stand alone. I love it. :-)

Nettie Phillips 03-24-2011 06:18 PM

Not sure what I would use for the border.

Jacqueline m l 03-24-2011 06:58 PM

I think the color is ok but the flowers are way too small. I would lean more to a Marble or solid Dark Gray or Black.

Lucy90 03-24-2011 07:25 PM

I wouldn't use the floral. A solid or marbled border of pink or black would be better

This is exactly what I was thinking! BTW, I love the quilt.

Great job!

LOL, I feel like the odd man out. But I like it with the floral. Changes it up a bit, but stays in the color scheme. I don't see why things have to be all matchy matchy. I think it does go together. As far as not fitting with the feel or grande scheme of the quilt, who says it has to stay squares? I say you matched it on color it doesn't HAVE to match on pattern. Thats what I love about quilting. Can't wait to see the finished quilt. It is beautiful what ever you decide, she will LOVE it!

I agree with irishrose. A solid black border, then a border of the dots.......then I would bind with the black.

I agree...that would look great!

GwenH 03-24-2011 08:17 PM

She will love the quilt... I think the border fabric is really pretty, but not to crazy about it as the border. The dots would work better I think...

I think this is a good idea.

I agree. The black dots on pink would soften the edges and cause the eye to be drawn to the center so that would also work as the border.

Janquiltz 03-24-2011 11:57 PM

Do like your quilt, but I wouldn't use the floral for this quilt either. Don't know how much of the floral you do have, and can't see enough of it to figure out the repeat - but from what I can see - I bet you that your floral fabric would make a knock-out OBW or Stack 'n whack"! I think that the quilt can stand on it's own without a border - unless you need it to make the quilt a little larger.

rgbear 03-25-2011 02:37 AM

You could use the floral but you would need a black strip around that one to pull it all in together

Linda1 03-25-2011 08:06 AM

I love your quilt but I am with others and wouldn't use the floral for borders.
