First one. It's light and airy.

Both great but I vote for #1

I just finished a chicken scratch sampler quilt and after doing several different patterns, found that I like the second style best. To me it resembles the "lace" look originally attributed to chicken scratch.

The first one for me as well. I have one block of this chicken scratch that I got from a thrift store, it is in navy and white, just loved it. Going to put it in a frame and hang in my sewing room or guest room.

Definitely #1.
