Tree skirts sure have came a long way over the years, Or we were just poor and I didn't know it. Mom always had us kids go and get "the best sheet we can find" out of the cubbord to put under the tree. Did anyone else do this?
Then when I was in grade school we had a terrible house fire on christmas eve, Lost darn near everything. anyway the red cross gave our family a couple of quilts.
In the following years mom would fetch the quilt from the red cross and very carefully arrange it under the tree. It was an old crazy quilt(I wish I knew what happened to it,it was really old then) anyway the crazy quilt looked so beautiful around the tree and I can still see mom arranging it just right. Maybe this is how tree skirts came about.Just thought I would share a little Christmas memory that came to mind.
