Your quilt is lovely in the purples and lavenders and I agree that it is just as lovely right-side up as it is wrong-side up. When you said you added 1/2" to the pieces are you saying you cut your strips 1/2" wider or when you cut your strip sets you cut those units 1/2" wider? Also if you used fewer fabrics did you cut more of some fabrics to make up for the number of strips in a strip set? You were very brave. I have altered many a pattern from the original instructions but I would be a chicken to do that with a bargello since I don't have any comprehension of how they are designed. Nice work!

That's the great part about bargello's I don't think there can be an upside or downside. Great job, I hope it cheered her up, it's beautiful.

Thank you everyone for the so sweet comment. she loves it, she made sure everyone that called to check on her new about it!

Honestly I would say this is easier than making pinwheels! there is just a lot of pinning to get all those seams to watch up right!

Both! I added a 1/2 inch to each strip that would later be sewn into a strip set. I also added a 1/2 inch to each unit as I was cutting it from the strip set. and because I only used 15 fabric instead of the 20 the pattern calls for my quilt was 3 strip sets long leaving me using each fabric 3 times which was 45 pieces.

Very pretty! I'm thinking "restful" and "soothing."
