    Quail wallhanging

I started this on a retreat in October hoping to have it finished for Christmas. Well, I finished it in time for the New Year! I'll be sending it to my wonderful MIL. She's not really a "quilt" person, so I went for "art" instead. It is 100% batiks. I love how it turned out!

This is beautiful! Can we get a close-up? I'm wondering how you did the appliqué...

It's raw edge. Very hard to see in the pics. I tried to kind of thread paint the individual feathers etc.

I agree, this is a gorgeous quilt. I like that you used shades of brown for the border letting the birds be the focal point of this quilt. They are so beautiful.

Beautifully done! All the attention to the details really adds to this! Might you have a pattern source to share-?

The pattern is "New Blessings" by Kathy McNeil available through AQS. I used her pattern and took a little poetic license

You did a great job. I really should try one. Everyday we enjoy the dozens of quail in our yard running about getting food. We love them. I am sure your MIL will enjoy your art work.

If you hold down the control key and hit the + key it will enlarge. To get back to regular hold down the control key and hit - and it will go as small as you need.
