This is a lovely quilt, Mavis. The colors give it a nice serene effect. I know what you mean about having difficulty doing random.

That quilt is so soft looking & inviting. I never thought about making a quarter log cabin. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love your quilt, & forget the other ladies, send it to me. Love those fabrics too.
Do you remember where the layer cake came from & name?

Oh, Gay, I've had that layer cake for a long time, and I didn't pay attention to the name. But, I'm almost certain I would have ordered it from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. Jenny offers a "daily deal," and she loves working with pre-cut packs pf fabrics. I get some good inspiration from her on-line videos.

This particular quilt was inspired from a "sewing with Nancy Zieman" show. Glad you like it!

I love your quilt! I have a layer cake with 42 squares. Can you help me figure out how much more fabric I need to make a full quilt? Maybe just tell me what you used and how big the quilt is? Sorry, I am a novice.😬

Phoebe, I made this quite a while ago and had to get out my tape measure to check...57 1/2 in. square quilt is how mine turned out. I used a layer cake and some cream colored yardage (I don't recall how much) as I had it in my "stash" fabric cupboard. So, I was thinking if you needed it to be larger, you might want to to use extra yardage too, and incorporate it into your blocks as you go to make your layer cake stretch father. Then you could make as more more blocks as you need to get the finished size you're going for. Be sure to show us your finished quilt!
