    I just looked again at the pics, and those setting squares are not black, but a darker green with a gold fleck in them. Wonder why they didn't photo well. hmmmmmmmmmmm

    Do you use material for the backing instead of muslin? Do they make material wide enough for the backing or do you have to sew it together? I am new at this and like the looks of the backs that have color in them.

    They do make extra wide backing fabric, but this one was pieced with two widths of fabric. Very simple.

    Even with a cheater panel you had to have that machine flying! Cheater is so negative, perhaps we should call them
    headstart panels or something nicer. That's a gorgeous quilt and I don't see why he wouldn't fall in love with it.
