I cheated. I was looking for fabric to make the logs out of and found the fabric with the logs on it. I did add the circles at the ends of the cabin because that is the way the real one looks. There is a pond there and there are also ducks like that there very often. I tried to get fabric that looked like tin, because it has a tin roof. When I found this fabric, I took pin tucks in it to make it look like the ridges on the tin. My youngest grandson was looking at the block. He is 9. He said, "If I didn't know better, I would think that is where we go to spend so much time." I felt like I had made it look pretty real because he could recognize it. I just hope the rest of the quilt will work out for me. Thank you all for your wonderful comments.
