Thanks to all of you for your positive comments. You are all very encouraging and helpful. That's why I love this board. I'll hopefully have time in the next couple of days to get more pictures posted.

It's really, really nice. Congratulations.
I've also been sewing since a kid--11 or 12 I think. Used to help mom sew the straight seams because she said they were "boring". :) I think it was a ploy that she used to get us sewing.
But quilting is something I never thought I would do. But I do love sewing and don't need any clothing...so...what to do?

I will make one for each and when I'm ready to start I ask them what 3 colors they'd like to see in the quilt. Jenni, my sweet and brainy DIL wanted dark red, purple and green and no white or very little white.
This was the most intricate quilt I made so far and it was fun! Thankfully I got a super tip from this board just in time. It was about using the June tailor quarter cut ruler. I had tons of narrow strips and small squares to cut and this was easy and accurate. There are 35 pieces in each 9.5" block and 9 pieces in the little purple stars between the sashings.
The pattern is Royal Order from the Aug 2009 American Patchwork and Qulting mag, designed by Jan Ragaller. I did my own FMQ and I'm happy with the quilt. Jenni was exstatic over it! Thank God my family really loves and appreciates my quilts.
Hope you like it!
