    Quilt for my son

My son saw this as a freebie pattern at quilter's world and wanted me to make one, when we started discussing it, he was sure it would be big enough for his queen size bed. I explained to him that was more of a twin sized one shown but could manage to work it to a queen. His saying was if you fly I'll buy. Little did he know how much it would actually cost, but he's pleased with it. The ladies were I quilt at the firehall with wanted to see it with the borders on, they helped me pin it together when it came time to quilt it by domestic machine. Anyway we're both pleased with the way it turned out.

People rarely know the financial cost of making a quilt, but at least your son knows the cost of your priceless efforts on his behalf! Nice work MOM!!!

Red, black and white ~ my favorite colors. It is gorgeous! I am sure it will be a treasure for your son.

Could you please give the name of the pattern?

What a wonderful quilt. He will love it all the more since he got to select the fabrics (and pay for them). I just had this conversation with m sis. I made quilts for all her grandchildren (free) and then she asked for another for a friend. When I said there would be a charge she could not understand why since I had the fabric and time. She understands more clearly now..

Great job on the quilt! I am sure he will take good care of it and treasure it for years.

There is nothing like having to pay the price for all that fabric, batting, thread and quilting to open the eyes of a non-quilter just what these quilts cost. Not to mention driving to the stores (gas), pattern, time, electricity and needles ... LOL.

Its wonderful! and your son will appreciate even more than most, knowing the actual dollar value AND more importantly, all the love that went into it

Great looking quilt!! You did a great job -- the black, white and read are a nice combination for a guy's quilt. It is good to have the family understand how much these "blankets" cost -- not a cheap hobby but soooo rewarding.
